RE: [spoilers] Lucas. Just Lucas.
I just don't think Lucas is bad and is only acting the traitor. Look at the level of contempt he showed Connie when her treachery was uncovered. I don't think Lucas was spouting hollow words when he said he would rather have spent 8 years in jail than betray his country like that. Lucas has just ruined another officers life, probably sending him to jail and unable to ever get another job. I bit like Connie killing Ben. Lucas handed over the Albany file which could have serious consequences for other officers lives and their operations. Connie handed over the (fake) names of the Sugarhorse Agents to Russia. Lucas is mirroring Connie's actions. This is why I believe Lucas is only acting.

I hope your are right Tea Lady. I just can't believe Lucas is evil, but we don't know what secret he is hiding. But I just can't see him betraying his country for Maya, it does seem like a complete character reversal for him. But the writers did that with Connie....never thought she was a traitor.

He is brilliant in the field and a great mentor. He does seem to care deeply for his people. His two sides are going to clash. Whatever that secret is, I do not harbor any expectations that we are going to find out what it is until the very end. As such I am just going to sit, wait and let it play out. In the meantime, I have been boning up on my British history researching Turner, the Battle of Trafalgar, and Lord Nelson. One of them has to mean something even it is just Nelson's famous quote: "England expects that every man will do his duty." Most of it will probably mean nothing, but at least I will be better informed. I am also wondering what the heck the file name "Albany" could have to do with anything, if anything. All I know is that Albany is a medieval name for very northern Scotland? And that Mary, Queen of Scots bestowed it on Lord Darnley who passed it to James VI of Scotland/I of England. I am going to willfully ignore Maya until I have to face her/it. Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks]; And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. ~Wm. Shakespeare, Hamlet |

I don't think he's doing it just for Maya, but I think he's got a very bad skeleton in his cupboard, and he's terrified that Vaughn is going to expose it. So he's going to do all that's necessary to cover it up. |

I also think Vaughan is right, Lucas is doing it for Lucas (to protect the event(s) in his past). I think his passion for Maya (or for a relationship) is real up to a point. [From Wylie's post, it looks like THAT scene is in next week's episode.] I don't see the same intensity in her, but I think that's due to her secret (that Ms Rouass managed to blab to the media).

RE: [spoilers] Lucas. Just Lucas.
I think someone else may have raised this already but why didn't Lucas just kill Vaughn? Problem solved surely? Perhaps the answer is that Vaughn is actually a relative of Lucas. Lucas seems tied to Vaughn and deep down really didn't want him to be harmed by whoever is after him. Something is pulling Lucas to do these things and I can't believe it is just for Maya.
