Yeah what would we do without TL? I think it is mentioned in the episode - when Harry explains to Tom why he took the codes home in the first place. Geez, I can't believe I forgot about the Havensworth corridor scene... |

You are forgiven though because of the wonderful fanfic you write! Maybe Harry slept in his snuggly jumper? Now there's a fanfic idea for you! re: the Terry Wogan moment. I didn't know what he was listening to, but what is being said has always made me giggle. As I was watching the S2 DVD extras (new to me!), PF mentions that he was uncertain if it is a good idea to show the personal lives of the characters because the mystery is part of the draw. I found this interesting given our recent discussion of the open shirts because for me those more relaxed moments for Harry when he loosens up a bit are important character insight. They do seem to happen more around Ruth as time goes on but I think that is less for sex appeal than she is the only one he emotionally "strips down" for. Symbolically speaking of course. Now that S9 has moved them completely into the inter-personal, I wonder what PF's take on it would be now? Now cracks a noble heart. "Forgot Havensworth" ...Do you need to see a doctor Silktie? Have you a temperature? As for clothes in S9, they seemed to dress Ruth in suits, when she had her strong episodes, such as when the Grid was in lockdown. Compare that to what she was wearing in two of her most vunerable scenes, when she had hurt her lip and at the end of 9.8, she wore that denin shirt thing. Was that supposed to be saying "I really don't care anymore" in those moments? Harry though always had his suit on. Even during his breakdown, he tried to keep up the facade that it was business as usual. |

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth. The Wonder Years.
In my defence, I didn't forget that there was such a thing as the Havensworth scene, I just forgot that Harry didn't have his tie and jacket on...
I assumed the denim shirt was just something she kept at the office for emergencies, such as when your outfit for the day gets ruined by little things like ink or tea spillages, or you know, by being blown up or kidnapped and drugged. But since we've discussed Harry's longer hair as a possible conscious wardrobe choice to show the character's inner turmoil, I think you may well be right that the denim shirt was meant to say something about Ruth's state of mind. |

Hahaahah! I hate those kinds of days! There are a few choices, but I think it is a combination of all of them: 1) The costuming department just wanted to mix her wardrobe up a bit. 2) Costuming was trying to signal her being a bit more informal & vulnerable in that moment. If memory serves, she wears it twice? In 9.4 and 9.8? Both moments of vulnerability for her. 3) Ruth has it on hand for when it is needed. Or there is a stash of extra clothes for whoever would need it. It kind of indicates that there is no time to go home and change; that they just have to wear what is available. There is a fanfic that suggests that Dimitri lent it to her. Forget which one. Dunno about it either, but its a thought. Now cracks a noble heart. RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth. The Wonder Years.
Your point about there not being time to go home and change is interesting. For some reason I'd assumed it was the next day when Ruth confronts Harry in his office about giving up Albany for her. Did other people see it as just a few hours later?
I assumed Ruth went to hospital for a check-up, and Lucas had to have time to get the explosives from the Chinese and set up his plan to get Harry on that roof. Also, that's why Harry is out of the clothes Lucas gave him to wear. Looking back to previous seasons, Ruth on a couple of occasions wore a white shirt and she looked fantastic. Here's hoping her emotional state improves sufficiently in season 10 for that shirt to make a reappearance. |

I assumed it was the same day, even though both had changed clothes, basically because I couldn't imagine Ruth managing to last until the next day without chewing out Harry. I know that mean Lucas' would only have had about 5mins to buy all those explosives, but then again this is Spooks world. I can't remember Ruth in a white shirt? Can you name the episode Silktie? |

In the scene before Ruth talks to Harry, Tariq tells Beth and Dimitri 'that air traffic control confirmed a helicopter flew out of a private airfield last night' which was the Chinese with Albany and, they thought, Lucas. So plenty of time for them to change their clothes. Lucas 8.4: It's all about trust, isn't Harry ?. Signature by the brilliant TygerBright |

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth. The Wonder Years.
Ah, thanks for that. So Ruth obviously took that denim shirt home to be washed. That's also interesting, because she obviously chose to wear it to the office and wasn't forced into wearing it in 9.8. Hmm.
Maybe she knew she was going to cry and get mascara smudges all over her outfit? |
