RE: Peter Firth #2
Just twigged on that one myself. Good for him!
Unfortunately, here in the US, I do not get Starz as it is a premium cable channel for which one must pay extra. Cheapskate that I am, 1800 channels is plenty! Hopefully a different cable station will purchase it that I do have access to. (*crosses fingers*) (Apropos of nothing: Am I using "twigged" properly?) Yup - another book for the pile. I could use some beach reading. Not in Mallorca, it would seem... Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks]; And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. ~Wm. Shakespeare, Hamlet |

RE: Peter Firth #2
I am very happy for him. He will be a great baddie. I also think that he should move on in his career. Perhaps Series 1 through S10 have explored all the facets of the "Harry" character. It might be a bit presumptuous for me to say that, but...

Oh that's interesting... Ken Follet is a family friend, I wonder if I might be able to see some of it being filmed :0)

RE: Peter Firth #2
Great news for PF.
Seems he's moving up in the world, from Sir Harry to Earl Roland (if it's a title and not just a name, obviously ). Now what would the period costumes be like for the time this story takes place? |

Ooh, what great news to come home to! Peter as a ruthless baddie in a period drama. How exciting! Very happy that he has got an imminent new role, and a rather interesting sounding one at that.

RE: Peter Firth #2
That's great news, something for us to look forward to watching next year.
I actually already have the book but just haven't read it yet. Although now not sure whether to read before the series is aired. (27-06-2011 03:43 PM)MandyM15 Wrote: Oh that's interesting... I'm actually going to Austria in September, I know it's a huge long shot but could my timing be right to see a little filming. Any intel on where and when filming could be would be great. |

I've no doubt PF will sport his hose most elegantly! Trying not to look forward to this solelyfor that reason. Very glad that this new project has come up as it bodes well for PF stepping into that "mature character actor" slot that Pete Posselthwaite has left vacant - still time for that Oscar, Peter!! |

Thank you A Cousin you have really just given me a badly needed laugh. If he is an Earl he would be wearing robes and finery. We may not get silk ties but we may get one of those white undergarment shirts with the pull cords. You always get them in period dramas like this so I will keep my fingers crossed for my white shirt fix I am going to try and read the book first. I have so many to read but I am going to give it a good go. For anyone that has seen Pillars of the Earth, its quite difficult to follow to start with, so I would imagine this will be quite similar. I really am quite excited about this. |

I'm excited about this too!!
Some new reading material is creeping into my already huge pile of still unread books. A friend of mine was actually raving about this book when it came out. I may now have to go and borrow this from him. And maybe Peter is again doing some research of a historically correct hairstyle like he said he did in the interview for South Riding. Must check for some pictures of medieval hair, this may even top the wig of Alderman Snaith |
