I don't think he really knows what he wants -- that's part of the damn problem!Thud

RE: Harry and Ruth
I think he knows what he wants, he just doesn't know how he's going to achieve it.

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

I agree with almh, he knows what and who wants, the problem is always the circumstances, never the right ones Sad

Thinking you want something and actually doing what it takes to get it are two different things. Desire drives action; "intellectual" longings makes you Hamlet!

Finally, my sound if fixed on my computer and I can say that I have watched all the Harry and Ruth Spooks. I am a happy girl today and finally undertand all the hoopla over Harry and Ruth. Exclamation

This being said, I can say honestly that it is frustrating to watch because like Beatriz said above - circumstances never seem to be the right ones. It's as if their 'stars never align' and things never really fall into place. I sure hope that the Spooks writers fix this by the end of this season and that both characters survive it. Heart I think they deserve it more than any couple I have watched so far on Spooks.

RE: Harry and Ruth
A point for discussion: Does anyone feel that the Adam-Ros relationship was the diametrically opposite of the Harry-Ruth relationship. Adam and Ros scored very low on emotional content but scored very high on physical content and vice versa for Harry and Ruth. Do you perhaps think that one relationship highlighted the inadequacies of the other and vice versa?

Just finished watching 8.3. Talking circumstances
Spoiler: show
the end of the ep set up the perfect situation for Harry to go to Ruth and comfort her over Jo's death. They could have comforted each other and moved forward from there. Instead, he sits alone in his office, isolated. The last shot was Harry and Ruth on opposite sides of the glass. He can see her crying but doesn't move and he has on his "it's me against the world" face.

RE: Harry and Ruth
Spoiler: show
I am fairly new to Spooks, but have seen all eps. up to season 7. Love the Harry & Ruth issue, & when re-watching 5:4 & listening to Malcolms quote after Ruth leaves Harry in the Hotel corridor..."Oh Ruth - Our doubts are traitors & make us lose the good we oft might win, but fear to attempt." Is that the 'problem'? Especially with Ruth? Was she only able to let Harry know how she felt in 5:5 because she thought she would never see him again? I do agree with Silktie especially. It is such a great summing up of these beloved characters.

RE: Harry and Ruth
Spoiler: show
The way this season is heading with killing people and Ruth coming back....I reckon this might be it, spookerudes.

And yes, there might be a bit of "love while we may" for these two. It's possible that it's the only thing that will work. And Harry looks like he's getting up some courage!

This is a serious spoiler, guys. Be up to date if you read this post.

I don't think Harry was in a position to offer Ruth comfort in that instance. He knows Ruth is still grieving after the death of her almost-husband, and she's given him no indication that she wants anything other than a professional relationship with him since she has come back. Harry, on the other hand, has been extremely gentle with her, and has immediately confided in her about the conspiracy the HS alerted him to. Remember, before Ruth had to leave in season 5, Harry was the one taking the initiative, and Ruth ended up running a mile. I really think he's going to need some sign from her that she's still interested before he can start doling out hugs etc.
