RE: Episode 6 Discussion
Thought Ewen Bremner was brilliant as Ryan Baisley, reminds me I must watch Trainspotting again (he played Spud). Lucas Lucas Lucas - so disappointed with you, at least now she's pulled a gun on you it might be a clue as to where her priorities truly lie. I'll be surprised if he's not disciplined over this, that's twice he's been under orders and dropped his wire. Loved Tariq in this episode, sorry but I don't miss Malcolm one bit. As said prev fav quote was Harry to Tariq "Cometh the hour Cometh the geek"
And Ros screaming in the street, quite a show of emotion for her. And now we know why the casting for Home Secretary changes in Ep7 and 8. I'm going to have to watch it again. Now. |

RE: Episode 6 Discussion
I so thought of Spud too
Of course, I know the quote that's been nagging at me that no-one else mentioned. The HS says "Someone said to me once 'politics is victory chased by defeat. So make sure you develop a taste for two things: blood and hard liquor.' So drink up Harry." One of the best lines of the show. And I love that Harry pauses ever so briefly, then virtually jumps from his chair at Ruth's suggestion. (Is it just me, or is something up with the photography this season that means everyone has incredibly pink lips? Like, baby pink gloss pink? And what's with me finishing my posts with parentheses?) Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: Episode 6 Discussion
OK the Episode 6 Drinking Game - every time RA lowers his eyes and turns his head to the side you have to down a shot. I thought that was a Gisborne trait but he's making Lucas do it a lot as well.
Loved the smile Ruth gave Harry when he told her to further investigate Nightingale without disturbing MI6, just before she expressed concern for Ros over Jo's death. |

RE: Episode 6 Discussion
Brilliant episode especially after 5 which unlike most I thought was the weakest of the Series. All the cast gave great performances and I was engrossed from the beginnning.
It's setting up the finale very nicely. Worryingly Lucas is showing signs of Tom in that he is letting his emotions rule his head. Surely I am imaging some by-play between Ruth and Tariq - they couldn't go down that road surely? |

RE: Episode 6 Discussion
I love it when Tariq says they're the "fundamental laws of the universe", before Lucas comes back at him. That was classic. Tariq's great, I love his voice, it's such a nice contrast to the others on the Grid. Not a patch on PF's dulcet tones, though.
How funny is that scene with the DeWits banker? He bumbles his way through that interrogation with Ros and Harry, and slips up every time he opens his mouth. That was one of those scenes that was exposition on the page but when you put it in the hands of HN and PF and a good director.... Speaking of which, I really liked how this episode was shot. Very clean. It reminded me a lot of one of the last episodes Edward Hall did for them, 7.6, which also had some passing similarities to the storyline. I think we can be certain Sarah at least has some feelings for him. It would have been much easier to shoot him. Then again, it might be a door back into MI5 access if she needs it. RE: Episode 6 Discussion
That was just LOL!!!
I think Ruth and Tariq are just friends (they better be!!!) and it's probably the same as her friendship with Malcolm - on the Grid they tend to divide into the people who do go undercover regularly, and those who just stay on the Grid, and so Ruth would be better friends with Tariq than with Lucas, for example. RE: Episode 6 Discussion
I want to see more Lucas and Ruth. An interview with RA before the series implied we'd see more of that than we have. Maybe in 7 and 8?

RE: Episode 6 Discussion
Why do you want to see more Lucas and Ruth? I don't really see how their relationship is really that interesting, although I may have forgotten something really interesting about them. (It's the weekend! My brain doesn't work at the weekend!)

RE: Episode 6 Discussion
Wow, cracking episode. The main thing for me this episode is that finally this season the team is really operating as a team. I found that somewhat lacking in previous episodes, but here every person on the Grid's strengths was used to get the operation done. There was much more of a balance in the use of all the characters than there had been in previous episodes. Things I liked:
- The meeting room scene and Smart Boy with his rules of the universe. Loved how Ros asks Ruth to interpret his geekspeak for them. - The guy playing Baisley was great, although I wouldn't have blamed Ros if she'd tried to shoot him herself. Seriously, how many times did people have to try to kill him before he realised his little plan wouldn't work? - Loved the HS/Harry scenes. Sniff, I'll miss him. I hope Harry gets to exact some revenge for this in future episodes. - We have enthusiastic, my-brain-is-too-fast-for-my-mouth Ruth back! I loved her this episode, she is getting some of her former verve back, as well as her empathy with the rest of the team members. I think after Jo died we have missed someone who acts as the heart of the team and who holds everyone together, but it seems as though Ruth is now moving back in that position, a role she also fulfilled before she had to leave in season 5. Oh, and we had her saying "there's something else" to Harry twice in this episode, lol! Homage to episode 3.4 when she says this to Harry and he yells: "Something else! That's your bloody middle name!" - Ros and Harry tag-teaming the banker was excellent. - Awww, Ruth asked Harry for a drink! She's finally ready to move on. Loved her concerned "Are you okay" after the HS debacle, she knows how much Harry respected him. Things I didn't like: - They're making Lucas look like an idiot. Hope they give him the opportunity to kill Sarah to make up for it in the next two episodes. |
