RE: Episode 1 Discussion - Silktie - 08-11-2009 11:25 AM

Upon rewatch, one particular moment struck me that I missed first time round. When Ruth calls Harry a 'heartless bastard', there's a quick focus on Harry's face, and just for a second he gets this absolutely shattered look on his face - before it's gone again. That comment from Ruth broke Harry's heart, but he couldn't let their captor see that and use it against them. Well played, Mr Firth.

I know, I saw that too! It didn't just break his heart, it broke mine.

Same :'(

I was wondering about something - how long do you think Harry was actually held captive for? My initial thought was that it hadn't been much longer than a day, but now I'm wondering if it were longer as enough time had to elapse for Ruth to get back to England, and the kid to actually get bored in the flat...

Kids get bored very easily! I would say at least two - Lucas said that Malcolm had been there all night analysing the footage of Harry getting shot, so definitely two, maybe three?

I think 2 1/2 to 3 in total.

I think I'm going to watch it again tonight.

Yeah, that could explain why Harry sounded so hoarse most of the time - he'd probably been without food or water for a while, as he appeared to be refusing the food Sarkisian offered him at the beginning.

RE: Episode 1 Discussion - Tea Lady - 08-11-2009 12:38 PM

I would probably say Harry was held for 3 days. He had quite a bit of stubble showing. As for the look when Ruth called him a "heartless bastard" that was a wonderful piece of acting by Peter. He was so wounded by that comment because he isnt heartless, far from it. I keep watching that scene and that comment caused him more pain than anything his captors could do to him physically.

RE: Episode 1 Discussion - almh - 08-11-2009 12:41 PM

That's why they did it - any physical pain the did to him would be no match for the emotional pain of Ruth being hurt.
