RE: [Spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce - JHyde - 04-12-2009 04:03 AM

Guys!!!!! My Harry diary just arrived in the post and the first place I came to get excited about it was the Harry thread!!!!

This should tide me over until episode 6. Barely. Not really, but I'll pretend it will.

You're gonna' love it -- it's a great read! The best of all the books, IMO.

Mine's hopefully arriving next week...

It is a really good book, enjoy!

To all of you who haven't bought it: BUY IT!!! I'm hoping we find out where he hides it, because unless it's really good, the whole "I wrote this to exonerate myself should things go wrong" argument falls flat.

It has to be hidden really well. And I want to know where!

RE: [Spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce - almh - 04-12-2009 06:58 AM

I presume the place where he keeps it is somewhere safe...

RE: [Spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce - Silktie - 04-12-2009 07:39 AM

My guess is he's hiding it in a false bottom of Scarlett's sleeping basket. That way his trusty guard dog can protect it day and night. Whilst Harry, of course, hopes that he will be allowed to let sleeping dogs lie and never publish the diary. Tongue

I think my question was just answered. Apparently in 2002 (just after the book picks up with the first season) he starts storing the data on these chips that are embedded in a volume of Shakespeare. After typing them and destroying the paper and digital copies of the entries.

I have sympathy with him being a Luddite. To think that I'm now a forum Mod!

I never understood why Harry called his dog Scarlet. Is that in here too? I can't really see him being a big Margaret Mitchell fan and if it is for O'Hara it's not spelt correctly. I can see Harry being picky about things like that.

I wanted to share what I think is the paragraph is the book that best typifies Harry, and which we've pretty much tapped into ourselves in this thread.

"There are degrees of loyalty. And nothing exceeds personal loyalty to someone whose opinion you value. It is the art of leadership. It is something I learned in the army and have never forgotten".

A fair summary, I would think. Not complete, but the essence is there.

Can we discuss Harry's Diary here? Or does it need it's own thread?
