RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8? - femaleBertieWooster - 24-12-2009 06:29 AM It was my favorite season. I like the way it pretty much hung together as a whole story. I remember the past seasons episodes as being stories unto themselves. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8? - Silktie - 24-12-2009 01:23 PM I don't think it was one of the better seasons, unfortunately. Apart from Harry/Ruth, I was not drawn in emotionally to care much about other characters, or the relationships between them. Where in previous seasons I would care greatly about the friendships between other characters on the Grid, this season just did not sell it to me. No Malcolm/Colin, Jo/Zaf, Tom/Zoe/Danny type dynamics that would have made me care about the characters. I guess what it boils down to for me is that this season lacked heart. It was big on adrenalin and action, but it was at the expense of character development. The fact that I HATED the whole Sarah/Lucas storyline doesn't help. My favourite episode of the season remains episode 1, for the return of Ruth and the emotional tension that brought. RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8? - JHyde - 24-12-2009 02:03 PM I just felt there wasn't a lot of growth for so many people on the Grid. But the big personalities this season were usually guest stars' characters, like Ashok or Coleville. I think we found out more about them than we did about learning more about the people in Section D. Lucas, in particular, is a bit all over the shop. I do think there were a few really good episodes this season (8.1 is on my top 10 list), but others left me a bit cold. I've said it already, but it really reminded me of season 3. But hey, Ruth's back. That makes up for even Lucas and Sarah. RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8? - YourFutureMuse - 24-12-2009 02:06 PM Yeah I think with the loss of so many characters it was a bit of an awkward transition series... But hopefully this means it will come back next year fresher and even better ![]() ![]() RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8? - kirmostar - 24-12-2009 02:10 PM I preferred Lucas in Season 7, he came across as a bit of a daft pudding in Season 8, prone to making bad decisions (and yes YFM I'm talking about Sarah......!) And why did they bother suggesting that Tariq already knew Jo, and then not develop that at all before she was killed? RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8? - YourFutureMuse - 24-12-2009 02:28 PM Haha I liked Lucas in this series better - after all everyone makes mistakes and Sarah definitely spiced things up a bit ![]() I really wanted to see more Tariq and Jo, tbh I thought they would end up getting together haha... well maybe they would have done ![]() RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8? - Kirayuki - 24-12-2009 02:47 PM Overall i liked this series. Things i Liked: - Supporting actors were pretty much all good! - The new Home Sec in 8.7/8.8 (Have to take them together as it was only after 8 i saw it like it was). - Nightingale - Ros (More than i have done before for some reason) Things i Disliked: - What happened to the lighting on the Grid? Is everyone using night-vision contact lenses or something nowadays? - Jo needed more screentime in her leaving ep. - If the costume department was suffering couldn't the actors bring their own clothes? The samey colothes irritated me a little. Things i LOVED: - Ruth's back!!!!! - H/R progression to final ep. Things i hated: - Shakycam! For heavens sake! - Sarah. (Sorry if you do like her but she drove me insane!) I think that's about it... ![]() RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8? - YourFutureMuse - 24-12-2009 02:52 PM Oh no! Not another Sarah hater ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I agree about Jo and her last ep.. usually they do have the main storyline when they leave and she didn't really even have a storyline just stood outside all ep ![]() RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8? - almh - 24-12-2009 02:55 PM I quite liked that Jo didn't have the main storyline - it made it seem slightly more likely that she would survive, in my mind (forgetting, of course, that I had heard a rumour that she would die ![]() RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8? - Kirayuki - 24-12-2009 02:59 PM I see your point there. Still, i thought it was rather dissapointing in some ways seeing as she was hardly in the episode. Maybe if her exit had been one ep later it would have worked better too... oh, i don't know anymore! (Poor Jo). |
