It's strange, but in my mind I'm starting to think that Harry and Ruth had met before. Perhaps not known each other that well, but the way that Harry acts around Ruth in the first episode makes it seem that they had at least spoken once.
Well, in the real world people usually go for interviews before they get a new job, so maybe Harry had interviewed Ruth before appointing her. The way he reacted to her entrance in 2.2 does seem to suggest that he had seen her before, and she also seemed to know who he was.

i luv lucas is telling the truth. I know who it was, and they'll probably 'fess up as they're just stirring. However, I believe in as much of a private ballot as the forum will allow. Voting is a very private thing, even if it's just an HR poll!
By saying I love Harry and Ruth it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy Adam and Fiona or that if Lucas gets with some nice girl I won't dig it. It just means I have a preference.
(sighs) I really can't complain. It's my fault anyway.
I think Harry and Ruth will have their issues. I do worry that in anger they might say things to each other they could really regret because there is a lot of water under that bridge. But I think what brings them together, and what they share, is much more than what keeps them apart.

Why do people keep saying that characters from Spooks aren't real?!?!
(Actually my mum reminds me about that when I rant about stupid decisions they make...)I think that they do manage to forgive each other reasonably easily, but they also can push each other away extremely easily. As someone once said on ff.net (yes, I do live on there, amazingly I've probably spent longer on there than on here,) "One step forward, two steps back."

I have faith that they'll be able to sort out their issues. When they do, I wonder if there'll be some awkwardness and shyness or whether they will be bold in their courtship. I would like to see some of the lighter moments return that we used to see before Ruth left.

I dont think it will be all fluff in series 9. I think there will be some more soul searching and raking up of the past before we get there. Maybe someone else from Ruth's 3 year sabbatical will turn up?
