Robin Hood really was a thankless role, at least the way the series was written. It almost seems like he's a supporting character for Guy. It reminds me of Ivanhoe. In the two versions I've seen, it was all about Brian de Bois-Guilbert. Sam Neill and Ciaran Hinds stole the show. I hope they gave Russel Crowe a decent script in the new one so Robin Hood can get his due.

I think the writers set out to make Robin Hood - but when they realised the massive success they got by pairing Keith Allen and Richard Armitage they adapted it for them.

I just rewatched the first episode this morning and I love the interaction between Guy and the Sheriff
Keith Allen is amazing in it and of course it goes without saying so is RA 
When the sheriff is teasing him about him letting Robin Hood scare him away when he only had one man and Guy had 20 something - LOL - the look on his face - bless him

and then they go and tie Guy up in two further episodes......must have been a case of writers deciding to "give the audience what they want!"
