I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but the Radio Times reports:

I was relatively happy until I read that.

For him the ending is perfection. Mmmm

I'm going to be a basketcase before this all ends.

I even felt the tears welling as I came to the end of the above blog because it would appear whatever the outcome Harry and Ruth are together in the final scene.

Everything now points to only a cameo appearance by Tom.

a traitor Harry and a traitor Ruth or the killing of each other. At least we are supposed to laugh a few times. Big deal! It is not what I want to read. Now we are prepared for the worst. I do not want to cry, only cry for joy.
In Ian Wylie's blog do these words from Ruth to Elena

Ms Evershed telling Mrs Gavrik: “I see he’s given more than I thought possible.”

mean that Harry has given away state secrets to Elena and indirectly to the KGB?

I sincerely hope not.

Well, I've broken my cover as I had the identity of the returning face completely ruined for me by a certain newspaper, which I saw inadvertently - thanks Metro!! It does make me furious when they do this with no warning. Thcussing
Anyway, re the ending, I'm also worried by PF's comments of

and NW's comments of

an audacious ending
. Having said that, I now think there can be 2 possibilities, depending on whether you are positive or negative re: H & R:

1.) Positive H & R scenario:
The 'profoundly tragic ending' is to do with Sascha and Elena and Harry ends up killing him, or her - hints of the greek tragedy, as PF commented on, *but* Harry and Ruth end up alive, well, and the last freeze frame is the scene of them holding hands in the field.

or:

2.) Negative H & R scenario:
The 'profoundly tragic ending' is that H & R won't be together as Ruth is killed. I still don't think they'd kill Harry off - PF said they wouldn't, unless that was a red herring. Either that or they have to separate for some reason.

I'm not sure where on earth Tom fits into all this but didn't PF or was it the writers, say that the returning face was going to be in flashbacks? I'm sure I read that somewhere. I still wonder if there won't be 2 returning faces? Didn't someone say Malcolm is listed in the cast for series 10? Unless a mistake but could he have some scenes with Ruth over Harry or something? Just a thought.

I know the whole series has never revolved around Ruth and Harry, BUT, knowing how much the fans love them, and how long this has been goig on, I really hope they would give us a little something as a reward for seeing it through - like the last ever scene being them together in the field. Would that be so much? As others have said, the younger cast always get their clothes off and numerous scenes in bed - e.g. Nancy Drew and Lucas in S8. I do feel sometimes that they won't do that with Ruth and Harry as they are older and not 'sexy' enough'. I don't expect a full wedding scene, or Harry to come charging in on a horse to propose, but I think the field scene would be a non OTT, fair way to end it regarding H & R. 'Rant over.' As for the other characters, I have no idea what to expect......

Just have a vague feeling that Harry has a legacy which in some way he is trying to hand down to Sasha - something Sasha must complete.

Scarlet - I agree with you. Why is it so hard to give us a happy B-storyline for H/R? How many minutes would it take out of a whole hour of show? I suppose that we fans are too mature or not cool enough to expect such a positive ending. I just hope that Kudos will surprise us in a positive way, but I am holding my breath!

One question that's bugging me is why does Harry ask Towers to bring forward the signing of the deal with Russia just before he is extradited?

Any ideas?

I doubt it. I suspect that after some further description of Harry's past and the

probable revelation that Elena has been duplicitous, Ruth tells off Elena with those words.

I thought that too and what did Harry destroy when he burnt all the stuff in his garden? The more i think of it the more i feel that there might be another revelation about Harry in next weeks episode.

Another thing i thought about was in the first episode in the Moscow scene. The ringleader said "Gavrik has my total trust" but which one?

Yes, I think you may be right. I wonder if the stuff he burnt had anything to do with some previous operation that went bad? Could it be Harry has an idea who is behind this and it may be connected to a shady incident in his past? I'm sure the writers said something about the story arc

coming down to Harry's past in Berlin. They mentioned 'Berlin Corners, '
though don't know what they are referring to there? I do hope there is someone else behind this whole thing as imo it would be just too obvious for it to be either Ilya or Elena and would be a let down I think. Disappointed that

but what did the baddie say in a previous episode? Something about the wife of an MI6 officer being connected to the laptop robbery? Hm..
