RE: Robin Hood (other interests) - Nia M - 08-02-2010 06:05 PM Hadn't noticed the arm-lock thing, but that's brilliant!! RE: Robin Hood (other interests) - kirmostar - 08-02-2010 06:12 PM bet you it was RA's idea, what a poppet.... RE: Robin Hood (other interests) - Nia M - 08-02-2010 06:17 PM *snorts* Ha! Poppet RE: Robin Hood (other interests) - kirmostar - 08-02-2010 06:21 PM Yes I know, Guy doesn't really evoke the word 'poppet' but it's a word that jumps into my head whenever I think of RA........ RE: Robin Hood (other interests) - TygerBright - 08-02-2010 06:36 PM Guy on the other hand evokes the word "muppet" ever so often RE: Robin Hood (other interests) - Nia M - 08-02-2010 07:30 PM Muppets and poppets - such fabulous words that one rarely hears I think I'm going to have to use them more often now... RE: Robin Hood (other interests) - TygerBright - 08-02-2010 07:53 PM I rarely have use for "poppet" but if you were to share even 1 hour of my day you'd be sick of "muppet".. as I am sick of the people deserving that description. It's a rather good word though, you can properly spit it out.. and it's not as offensive as some of my four-letter choices RE: Robin Hood (other interests) - Nia M - 08-02-2010 08:13 PM I more often use 'moose', 'mollusc', 'amoeba' and (if I'm in a very agitated mood) 'dactylic hexameter with a catelexis' (or something to that extent)... However, 'dibunophyllum bipartitum', 'retrograde inversion' and several not-quite Shakespearian insults like 'pestilent hedge-born wagtail' have also featured. (If you were wondering how I remember them all, I recently had a little 'Shakespearian insult' war with a couple of friends, and I still have all the texts RE: Robin Hood (other interests) - TygerBright - 08-02-2010 08:22 PM gee you must have a really good memory and quick tongue I need to get them out fast before I forget who or what ignited my ire so I stick to words of 3 syllables or fewer (unless I need to really vent my anger in which case I use 9 of them as adjectives and add a four-letter noun ) ...and before we get reminded to stay OT - I quite liked some of the sheriff's insults in Robin Hood.. and Keith Allen delivered them so brilliantly. Quite like Nickolas Grace in "Robin of Sherwood"... RE: Robin Hood (other interests) - Nia M - 08-02-2010 09:56 PM I've got the dactylic hexameter one memorised, but the other ones I did via text so had longer to remember them |
