National Theater Live in HD - A Cousin - 05-08-2010 04:48 PM I am so excited about this I can hardly contain myself! The Metropolitan Opera in NYC has been doing this for a while but the National Theater is starting their second season. If you don't live in or near London you can see performances at The National Live in HD on screens around the world for very affordable price. Sure, it's best to see it at the National, but this is close as I am going to get for a long time. Here is the website: http://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/ntlive Next up for Spooks? Alex Lanikepun as Laertes in Hamlet on 9 December, 2010. I am sorry that I missed Simon Russell Beale (and Fiona Shaw) in London Assurance. It is only matter of time before more Spooks actors turn up at The National. RE: National Theater Live in HD - Tea Lady - 05-08-2010 06:32 PM That looks really good A Cousin. You may be lucky and get to see Nicola Walker in Seasons Greetings in December. RE: National Theater Live in HD - Beatriz - 05-08-2010 07:23 PM wow!!! That's awesome!! I didn't know they did this sort of thing!! I was getting excited but I checked out the link and Spain is not in the list of countries RE: National Theater Live in HD - A Cousin - 06-08-2010 01:08 PM (05-08-2010 07:23 PM)Beatriz Wrote: wow!!! That's awesome!! I didn't know they did this sort of thing!! Well, the program is still very young. The NTLive web-page has a link for organizations that are interested in screening so if you are feeling bold, you may be able to contact one in your area and suggest it? If it makes it any better (and very unfortunately TeaLady) they will not be screening the play with NW in it. I they only do 4-5 per season. I will have to make due with Alex! And Clair Higgins. And Patrick Malahide. And Derek Jacobi. I'm happy with that. RE: National Theater Live in HD - Beatriz - 08-08-2010 09:49 PM I will definitely try and do that, I have nothing to lose RE: National Theater Live in HD - almh - 25-08-2010 10:29 PM Oooh, that looks really interesting RE: National Theater Live in HD - A Cousin - 22-10-2010 02:51 PM The Husband and I saw the first of our National Theater Live performances last night: A Disappearing Number. It was a brilliantly staged and acted, thought provoking play. Two Spooks guest alums were in it. The first Paul Bhattacharjee who played Mohammad Khordad in 3.3. and 7.4. I recognized him immediately. The other was Saskia Reeves who was the ill fated Sally Bernhard in 5.6 and 5.7. I recognized her from Luther but had forgotten about her appearance on Spooks. Loyal fan that I am, I kept thinking to myself that I would love to see Nicola Walker play the role Saskia Reeves played. Not that Ms. Reeves was not fantastic, she absolutely was. Its just the irony that I have them both pegged for the same role when they kind of did play the same role on Spooks. Of course, it didn't help that the character is named Ruth and is a woman of great intellect. You see? Everything in the world DOES relate back to Spooks! RE: National Theater Live in HD - A Cousin - 28-10-2010 01:48 PM Screenings of A Disappearing Number imminent in Australia, my friends. Well worth the price of admission. If you can't "be there," this is the next best thing. http://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/53005/venues-amp-booking/find-a-venue-near-you.html RE: National Theater Live in HD - A Cousin - 02-11-2011 02:14 PM Reviving this thread to pass on to those outside the UK (and even those inside without easy access to London) that starting on 1 December, 2011, NT Live will be presenting The Collaborators starring Simon Russell Beale and Alex Jennings - both Spooks alum. As if that weren't enough, the cast also includes a couple of personal favorites of mine, Mark Addy and Patrick Godfrey. There are venues in the UK, Europe, USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
