RE: [Spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce
I get what you mean Smile

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

He certainly doesnt really respect Sam or Helen until she died. Why are they so different to Ruth, perhaps more attractive and younger? Something a middle aged man might go for over brains surely?

I think H's initial reaction to Ruth may have had something to do with her coming from GCHQ. I think he probably didn't trust her from the get go, believing that she had been placed in his unit to spy on them. So he's being careful about how he acts around her, not wanting to give her any ammunition against him/them.

RE: [Spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce
Maybe we should take this discussion to the RH thread? I'll comment on lwhite's post there.

I wanted to comment on what we learn about Harry in 2.4, and his handling of Dickie Bowman. I thought it was really nice to see a different side to Harry here. His respect and affection for Dickie is really touching. It seems that in Harry one would have a loyal friend once he trusts you.

RE: [Spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce
I think he really respects reluctant bravery. There are some people who thrive on adrenaline and risk, and Harry enjoys that thrill of the chase, as did Adam or Ros. But for people like Bowman, thye fear is crippling. Harry recognizes service and patriotism that is untempered by false rhetoric but rather the simple actions of a man trying to protect his company and his country.

But he did obviously respect and like him anyway. Perhaps because of Harry's father and brother being bankers they had a long standing friendship and trust. Bowman's bank was a family one, and it's possible that he and Harry knew each other in younger, college days.

RE: [Spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce
I was surprised by how caring and tender Harry was toward Dickie after his stroke. A very different Harry to the one we had seen thus far in the show and among his most emotional moments, along with his meeting with Catherine and R's leaving. He's been protective, friendly and empathetic to men but never anything as overt as he was with Dickie. They clearly had a long history.

I was just happy to see that he does have a few friends outside the service, even if he never seems to have time to spend with them.

RE: [Spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce
Yeah, you never get any hint that Harry spends time with anyone outside work, except the dog.

This is absolutely great! Do you know where it came from? Loved the comments about knighthoods.

That's great. Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning. I can imagine PF having giggling fits filming that. Was it from the BBC website when they had extras on there? the dog comment is a classic but I noticed he didnt mention his son Graham, Bless.
