I think RA once said in an interview that he always adds some negative traits to the positive characters he plays, and give the evil ones likeable qualities to balance the bad.. making the characters more intricate, interesting, and believable.
Obviously Guy is a negative character to start with but I still remember Robert Addy playing the role in "Robin of Sherwood" and while Michael Praed was instantly likeable with no dark side (that I'd remember), Addy's Guy did not have a single trait that would have endeared me to him...
Light can only shine where there's darkness...and while Anakin turning into Darth Vader is certainly interesting, the redemption of a lost soul holds a much bigger fascination for me.

I agree with you TygerBright..... the dark side is normally hiding a 'hidden' pain.... its a facade against the reality of life x

i have a confession........... ive benn laid up in bed all weekend (not well) and managed to watch the ENTIRE Robin Hood series (39 episodes plus extras.) I think I may have slighty overdosed on Gisbourne.... excellant series - loved it. cried at the end - does that make me a sap??
