'Connie James. The stuff of legends.'
Connie : 'The stuff of nightmares'.

In that sentence she said it all. but there is concern in how long it took hary to get lucas back, but also way get him back now. Blackmail or not with the russians.

I assumed the Russians were keen to send Lucas home as they thought he was now going to work for them. All they had to do was wait for a plausible excuse to send him home. Maybe the spy Harry caught was a set-up. Lucas was definitely under the impression that Harry had not tried to get him home, and Harry did not seem to correct him. But this storyline was not carried forward to series 8.

So what do people want to see happen with Harry and Lucas in Season 9? I know a lot os us are big fans of both characters, which makes this dynamic all the more interesting.

Harry and Lucas need a real watershed moment, I feel. One that will probably only come about with some awful event, because that's only how things happen on Spooks.

That's a tough one to predict! I like TygerMag's suggestion that the "ultimate betrayal" mentioned in recent press about S9 will actually be Lucas stealing Ruth!! That would be a spanner in the H/R department, not to mention L/H's relationship! Seriously though, I'd like to know more about the ill-fated Moscow operation that landed Lucas in Russian hands. Perhaps there is a tie in there somewhere.

I would really like to see Lucas turn out to be spying for the Russians all along, that would definitely put the cat among the pigeons. And i would like to see how he ended up in prison more explored, i feel that's been left wide open and you are right Hellsbells it wasn't carried over to series 8. However, Lucas' torturer did tell him to be careful who to trust.

This is a tricky one as I quite like the way their relationship stands at the moment. If they were to become best buddies then it would be copying the Ros storyline wouldnt it? I like the distance they keep between them but underlying that is the deepest respect.

Yes I would like to know more about what happened with Russia but I fear we may have heard all that we are going to, about that.

As for there being a L/R !! heavens !!
I would think, that is only ever likely to happen if Harry did something to really screw up his relationship with Ruth first, something she couldnt forgive him for. Hence turning to "safe" Lucas.

Back tracking a bit, I think JHyde mentioned it before and I'm not sure if I've made this up so I'm very sorry if I have, but didn't Harry or someone mention at somepoint that it had taken so long to get Lucas back because they needed something the Russians were prepared to trade him for.

I would love to see more of the relationship between Harry and Lucas as Harry is like Lucas' adoptive father who Lucas looks up to but never gets compliments from. I would also like to find out more about what happened to Lucas

Jeeyayzuz, I hope I don't have to explain that my L/R suggestion was tongue most tightly in cheek, do I?!?!
Not because I fear the wrath of the H/R brigade but because it would make no sense whatsoever. And you'd need more than 8 episodes (or 8 series AAMOF) to somehow bring about that pairing. I can see them being friends as both have been through a lot, and share certain character traits, but anything else?!? Please, NO!!!!
As for Harry & Lucas... I don't think Harry sold him out unless we followed the "ultimate betrayal" hints and Harry turned out to be the one (for whatever reason.. and I somehow doubt it anyway). We might find out though why it took him so long to get Lucas back. Surely in 8 years the Russians must have "misplaced" one or two of their assets too that were worth a trade.. unless the cells in Moscow are chock-a-block with MI5/6/7/8/9... agents and Lucas was very low in the pecking order.
One thing I am absolutely certain about - we'll get more background on Lucas in series 9. Which hopefully includes his relationship with Harry. I'd love to see them go head-to-head - they're both scary when angry.

I get it Tyger, don't worry I agree, you know from my fan fic that I think these two have a lot in common, but not romantically.

And I agree, I love seeing them going balls out in a big argument. No, not literally girls....
