RE: [spoilers] Spooks Actors - New Projects Thread
No, it's new. I think the distinction between the two threads has been whether or not it is a new project (being made or just released) or an old project (something they did prior to Spooks).
Truthfully, we probably don't need them both but we're not keen on closing threads, as a rule. What I saw of Whitechapel is really great. It had consistently good write-ups in the Australian press and confirms my opinion that someone in the reviews office working at the Sydney Morning Herald/The Age is either in love with or related to RPJ. I swear the guy never gets a bad review for anything he's ever in. It's not always the same person reviewing either. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: [spoilers] Spooks Actors - New Projects Thread
I wanted to share something really interesting I just read in an interview with Russell Crowe. He's doing the remake of Robin Hood with MM coming out in May (it premieres at Cannes in a couple of weeks). There's been some supposition that MM was meant to have a bigger role but a fair bit was left ont he cutting room floor. (To be fair, Ridley Scott has a reputation for totally changing scripts once people actually get on set and are contractually obliged to do work regardless. And I think the press like to write Rusty as the resident Antipodean thug.)
But here's the quote. It makes me wonder if MM walked into something that became very different. "I: Is it true that you signed on without knowing which character you would be playing? RC: I signed on the basis that I wanted to remake Robin Hood. there was a script but that's not the one we did, because doing a story where the sheriff is the hero and Robin is the bad guy is interesting for about 20 seconds." This could mean bollocks but I do hope not everything MM did in the movie ends up edited within an inch of its life or is the worst of the film all together. I'm really hoping this film gets him some good work. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: [spoilers] Spooks Actors - New Projects Thread
There's a lot of conflicting stories about Robin Hood doing the rounds. I remember when I first heard of the remake, they said that the Sheriff was going to be the hero and Robin the villain. Then there was the whole Sienna Miller/ Cate Blanchett thing. MM has said in interview that the role kept changing even while he was filming.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/stage/2010/feb...vate-lives There's another article in which he says he hammed it up as the sheriff http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/theat...rview.html Whatever happens with MM'S role, hopefully we'll have the deleted scenes on DVD!! We move on from this It's the realisation that I make a negligible difference Sometimes you have to give a man a chance |

Yeah that's what I saw too. Sienna Miller was very gracious about the whole business - she put it nicely when she said that if it was between her and Cate Blanchett, she'd pick Cate too!
I suspect it may have been like that when Crowe signed on but whether MM signed on after the changes had been made, that's another question. Anyway. I hope it works out well for him. He is playing against two excellent actors in Blanchett and Crowe and he'll hold his own. Just depends if there's a sympathtic editor! Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: [spoilers] Spooks Actors - New Projects Thread
There was a MM interview on BBC Radio2 a month of so back. A link was posted on here. MM said the scripts kept changing and his role kept getting smaller and smaller from what I remember, as time went on. I got the impression that there wasnt a lot of footage of him anyway, for some to be left on the cutting room floor. I could have that completely wrong though.

RE: [spoilers] Spooks Actors - New Projects Thread
Yeah I remember you sending me the link. It's why I've had my ear to the ground to hear anything about the film's process.
Anyway. i don't want to drag this thread too far off topic, it was just a broader comment on the film and what could be a real turning point for MM. It's the biggest thing he's done since Pride and Prejudice in 2005. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but you can catch Raza Jeffrey and Ian Glein in "Harry Brown" starring Michael Caine. Good flick. Violent, but good.
