do you? i thought it the moment i saw ros well i say it was more when she settled in. her loyalty to her job over her personal life, her father issues, her complicate relationships, a woman in a mans job and both fistey lead females

Oh, ok, yeah I'd agree with that. I find their circumstances very similar, but not their personal characteristics. CJ is much more emotional, compassionate and I'm sure would not agree with most of our spooks' view, including Ros, that the end justifies the means.

The classic example would be how CJ reacts to the President ordering Shareef to be killed, although you don't see her reaction until early in season 5. This is something that most of our Spooks would lose little sleep over - think how they handle

I think CJ would have more issues with that.

I love both characters, but CJ certainly has a level of bravado, like Ros. They're both definitely a lot more comfortable with colleagues than anyone else.

But ultimately I see them as quite different, as CJ genuinely likes other people and their company, she thrives on it. Ros really doesn't, she's not a people person, to put it mildly. How they get their thrills is totally different.

Not strictly about 'The West Wing', but Aaron Sorkin has his new movie coming out, 'The Social Network'. It's directed by David Fincher, best known for 'Fight Club'.

Neither of these men has had a big success in some years, but their best work is unspeakably good. This movie looks like a return to form for both of them and I hope it's as good as I'm expecting.

Sorkin has done interviews with Charlie Rose and Stephen Colbert in the last few days that are really good.

Especially given that intellectual copyright is one of the most interesting legal areas of contention in recent years (as identified by Sorkin himself more than 10 years ago in a WW script in the 1st season), this has to be worth the price of admission.

The film doesn't get released here until November, but I can't wait.

Since Spooks doesn't do Christmas episodes, I'll have to break out my West Wing DVDs for Christmas, I think. Which West Wing Christmas episodes did people enjoy most?

I think mine is Noel. It has Yo Yo Ma in it! and that speech Leo gave Josh about the guy in the hole. And Toby trying to get into the Christmas spirit. And the snobbish White House Visitor guy, Bernard, who told CJ her necklace was "a monument to bourgeois taste." Haha!

Sigh. Good times...

Yeah, that's one of my favorites, too. Yo Yo Ma performing in the White House -- had to be on TV 'cause it definitely wasn't happenin' during the Bush years!!

Oh dear. My West Wing DVD's are on loan so I'm not sure. Was the episode where they bury the ex-marine, a Christmas episode? Toby goes to his funeral with Mrs Landingham, while Carol's are being sung round the tree at the White House?
