RE: Series 9 Episode 3 discussion
I have a hard time "marrying" the tougher Lucas that's now Section Head (and so enjoyable) with the love-sick version that crumbles the moment a woman turns up. This is the guy that survived imprisonment and torture? Sorry, the Lucas-love-line is getting predictable (unforgivable in writing) and I LIKE the Lucas character.

One thing's for sure, if I was "the bad guy" in S10, I'd know how to take him out in an instant. Exit one agent, without even having to kill him.

I'm hoping there'll be a great twist and I'll eat my words.

He's supremely naive and exceptionally unlucky if he doesn't suspect something. Elizaveta tried to turn him to work for the FSB, SC - well, the less said about her the better ... I think Maya's playing Lucas - no doubt - and Vaughn would have very carefully chosen the items in that suitcase, knowing that her photo would send him in her direction. Whether he's playing her remains to be seen (fingers crossed for a huge twist!)

Besides, the conversation between Harry and Ruth after that wouldn't make sense.

I can't remember for certain Beatriz but I think he told him that his daughter held out and didn't spill. He had previously told him that she gave up the info so he could get the hiding place (since at that point nobody knew it) and in the car (I think) he told him the truth. He may have added that they were keeping it safe to give him a sort of fake lift in spirits. Also, he doesn't tell Ruth everything. There are most likely things that only he should know (as he sees it.)

As I said, I haven't had a chance to watch it again so this may be wrong. Maybe someone else can remember.

Before I check this, I need to see that pond.

Rooftop scene:
Beth and Dmitri sneak up and disarm Lucas, cuff him and lead him away.
Lucas screams, "No Harry please, I'd rather die!"

Harry: "We're sending you to rehab ................. in Texas."

I thought of a mashup name (a la Bennifer/TomKat/Bradgelina) for a certain character Wink

John - hn + North - orth + Lucas - Luc = JoNas Exclamation

Jonas? Didn't he play Robin Hood? Angel (and I thought RA played Guy of Gisborne Silba)

Speaking for myself I enjoy both "versions" of Lucas North (always have),the thougher one and also the love-sick one (how you call it).
To me only because he is an agent of the Secret Services it doesn't mean that he can't have feelings, that he can't fall in love, that he can't show emotions or be weak sometimes.
I enjoy watching the soft side of Lucas, because it remainds me that after all he is a human being too and not just a cold "killing machine".
I'm enjoying the Maya/John story so far and can't wait to see what will happen next.
To be honest I would find it a bit boring after a while to watch 8 episodes of just super-cool,though Lucas running around, killing people, giving orders to his colleagues and saving the world.I personally like a mix of professional and personal life. What Kudos is doing is ok with me.

Just a quick caveat guys: please try and keep discussion in this thread to the episode. Otherwise take it to the relevant character thread.

Yes previously Harry had told Dr. Kirby that his daughter had spilled so he could get the hidng place. But this story was was flawed - he was told that she was drowned but she had told a British Officer before she died that she had spilled - so what is supposed to have happened? Did the British Officer drown Kirby's daughter - of course not! The story does not ring true because it isn't true. Dr. Kirby on reflection would have realised this and started to ask awkward questions (as government or ex. government scientists are apt to do). So why not tell Dr. Kirby the truth, after all he will be bounded to secrecy anyway and as Harry says Dr. Kirby is a "princpled man".

RE: Series 9 Episode 3 discussion
I thought this was a pretty good episode. I like how they portrayed the dilemma Harry had and the geopolitical implications/storyline. I wonder why they decided to use a fictional country though. Is it just so that it could be a representation of countries in the area (and recent events too)? Just wondering.

Nevertheless the storyline was very interesting. I also like how Harry and the rest of the team worked to resolve the problem (theft of Paroxocybin) in a beneficial way. It was very smart and creative.

The only real downside of this episode was the Lucas/Maya relationship. As some other SF members have mentioned, its a bit silly that Maya would want to be in love with him and trust his very vague answers. I think its becoming distracting (this story about Lucas being in love with Maya and his past...)
