I felt the same way about Lucas, how I refuse to believe that he is a traitor. But being a traitor isn't black and white, especially not with these characters. If they can bring in a reason for Lucas to turn on his people, there is always a possibility that Ruth can too.

Anyone is fair game on this show, except maybe Harry. There has been enough characters that I thought for sure were on our side but turned out to be a lot darker than I ever imagined. So I can't say that if Ruth is revealed to have a part in this betrayal that I would be very surprised.

I had thought for the longest time that Nicholas Blake, the old home secretary, was certainly on MI5's side, I thought he was the one honest politician, I trusted him the same way Harry did, so imagine the shock I got when they revealed him to be part of Nightingale and had a hand in Ros's death.

If there is anything I learned about Spooks, never say never. Anything can happen at this point.

My hope is that if Ros can redeem herself and become a trusted officer even after all her betrayals, then I can hope that Lucas can have that same chance despite the mistakes he made in the past and he is currently making, after all, he served his country bravely during the years he has been at MI5, surely that counts as something.

I too hope Ruth isn't involved either, but with these writers, anything can happen.

For all I know, Lucas could be run over by a truck next episode because he's crossing the street...Silba

These are the reasons I began to suspect Ruth,
From watching the show,

All fingers are pointing toward Lucas. He took the Albany file for Vaughn, set up an innocent man. It's just too obvious.

Ruth just happened to be standing there when Lucas finished stealing the file.

When Lucas said the line "A traitor is a traitor," Ruth had a response. Not enough in itself but considering the writers are making Lucas look bad, it could be she suspected Lucas or worried that Lucas suspected her.

It would be the biggest shocker of all seasons.

From reading the series 9 rumors and speculation thread,

Series 9 Spoiler: show
Someone mentioned that Peter Firth gave an interview saying the traitor was the least suspected person, then corrected himself to say the second least suspected.

To me the least suspected would be Harry. That gave more weight to the Ruth as traitor scenario.

Maybe Firth sees Ruth as the least suspected and himself as the second least. Is the traitor Harry?

Lucas doesn't merit first or second least suspected as he's been mysterious and questioned since he entered the grid in series 7. He has always been under suspicion.

And again, I never thought Danielle was involved with Albany, only that Lucas would follow up before killing someone or letting them die.

Rooftop scene:
Beth and Dmitri sneak up and disarm Lucas, cuff him and lead him away.
Lucas screams, "No Harry please, I'd rather die!"

Harry: "We're sending you to rehab ................. in Texas."

I don't think Tariq is at the point where they warrant him his own storyline, and besides, the impact would just not be felt the same way if it's Tariq who does the betrayal, it would not be the ultimate betrayal like the way with Ruth, Harry, or Lucas.

So really, at this point, I can't see them using Tariq, Beth, or Dimitri, they are still at this point not as developed for them to be providing any huge shock or emotional trauma the way Harry/Lucas/Ruth would, hence why the top three of Section D are the ones with a lot at stake in this storyline.

Can someone tell me how the team knew where the russian/chinese spies were based?

Can someone also tell me how they managed to make it seem as if they were all at their desks as normal? They would have had to have sorted that before they blasted their way out of the grid but they were being watched so how could they have possibly looped the cctv or anything? also how did the bomb blast not alert the chinese/russians that something was up?

Absolutely great episode but they didnt really illustrate how the final outcome was reached!

Sometimes they don't show everything, we just have to take it on faith that they found a way.

Maybe Tariq was able to get some loop up like how they could hide in blind spots or what other stuff.

I'm not a techie so I don't know.

Sometimes they just don't explain everything, that's where suspension of disbelief comes in.

The spies found out that they knew the grid was compromised when Tariq dropped something and looked directly at one of the cameras. Then they didn't have to pretend anymore and Harry said to rip out the cameras, he wanted privacy.

Someone got the idea (Beth) to try to lure them out by pretending another operation was underway that could possibly interfere with what the Russian and Chinese spies were doing, hoping, but not knowing for sure, that they might be in London. Remember they went to that apartment and put stuff around to make it seem that someone was there. Hired bullies then showed up and eventually led Beth and Dimitri to a car where Dimitri got photographs.

By the time the cameras were disconnected, the spies started downloading everything so it didn't matter that they couldn't see what was going on in the grid anymore. The team was able to rig stuff during that time, which was only an hour, the time to download everything.
