Yes he did, an ex wife i believe, this was another major plothole not many people noticed/addressed. |

Glad Ruth ok in the end and that her getting upset proves she's not dead on the inside. Maya - can't say I'm sorry about her demise. I'm sure Harry can pull through this. I hope that if there is a S10 Spooks gets back to is grass roots. Did enjoy S9 but not quite as much as I have in the past. |

RE: Series 9 Episode 8 discussion
So very disappointed with the outcome of the last episode,in fact with the whole Lucas/John debacle .They created a character who was absolutely believable then destroyed it in a ridiculous storyline ,which made no sense at all .If Alex is to be the replacement for Lucus I think I have watched my last series .I would rather remember when the stories were credible.

I had to go back and rewatch it as I was so shell-shocked the first time. It's even worse the second time! Yes, RA was brilliant as was NW but oh my god what a pig's ear they made of it. It seemed so sloppy, like the writers had never seen the previous two seasons. They used his torment from the prison to show what a damaged person he was - lazy, lazy - write it in the script! For him to throw his life away for a love was ludicrous especially as we never saw anything resembling love coming from her - it's seemed like she cared more for Vaughan! Yes, you could take it that he was so damaged and desperate for love that he projected it onto her but honest... really....make it believable! For him to act with all his brilliance in the way that he did against everything and everyone he had worked for was just downright daft. To swallow it, you had to simply forget all the good that he had done throughout the past two seasons and believe that he had been the person they now wrote him as. And I don't - pure and simple. I could have if they had done it differently, that he had been damaged by the years in prison and he had finally lost it but to make him bad before he went in and then showing him being so good and kind and heroic - it didn't make sense. Yes, I know that he was losing it - that's ok - I get that but the reason behind it doesn't add up. I understand the idea of living a double life - it's the stuff of spy novels but if you go back and look at his words and actions of the past two series, it illustrates just how tacked on this series is to what we know. RA was great but he had giant holes in logic to get past. It was deeply disappointing - the ideas on here were more believable and inventive! |

RE: Series 9 Episode 8 discussion
I swear my fanfic is a more believable plot than the writers' version of how things turned out! I don't think I can ever forgive them for tacking on this ludicrous storyline.
They were lucky that the actors were so phenomenal and brilliant that for one hour as you are watching, you forget about the glaring plot-holes and you are actually drawn into the storyline. It's not until it's over that you say to yourself, "WTF?" I've never doubted the acting nor the excitement/shock level of this series, but the logical plotlines, THAT I doubt very very much! RE: Series 9 Episode 8 discussion
What a rollercoaster ride that was! I wasn't sure whether Ruth would die or not. I was really worried about Harry on that roof. An hour just wasn't long enough for me.
I'm sorry but I'm relieved that Lucas has been written out and we can all move on. He was a great addition to the grid, but once he had started to turn, there was never going to be any redemption. Question is - did he jump off the roof or did he back away from Harry too much and just fall off? Please can we not speculate about whether Lucas is alive or not. There was a scream from the street which made Harry turn around. There was his expression as he looked over the edge. He has definitely not survived that. I'll save most of the Harry and Ruth stuff for the right thread but how disappointing that there wasn't just a little bit of fluff at the end for us. I also want to think that Ruth's tears at the end were because she was worried about Harry, or else it was a release of stress. I guess they might have been for Lucas because they showed everyone else looking a bit glum as well. I'm desperately worried about Harry's future in the next series. I need some good Tea Lady optimism to keep me from thinking the worst. I hope they clear his name in the first episode and we can get on with business as usual, but I have a horrible feeling that it's all going to be dragged out. |

RE: Series 9 Episode 8 discussion
My goodness - after having given us an absolutely ridicolous storyline, after having insulted the audience's intelligence by huge plotholes and a totally illogical character development, after not having bothered to give any plausible explanations to what had happened, they are now threatening us with another series? Well, I'm sure I won't take anymore of that crap!
