Spooky Holidays 2010/11

NORAD needs to update those clips. They have a copyright date on them.

We're at the in-laws and they ordered Thanksgiving dinner this year from Fresh Market. With my father-in-law's health fading my mother-in-law isn't really able to cook dinner...and since we don't cook...much.

The turkey ended up being about the size of a chicken and the ham, well, I could eat the ham in one sitting.

It's all about time with family. Enjoying those with us and celebrating those who aren't and making fun of those who didn't bother to show up (yes there's a story there).

It's not bad It's one of the cd's I brought with me to Barcelona, so it's pretty cool, yes

I stopped writting Christmas cards some years ago, but I think I will resume that tradition this year and send some overseas

I'm not a religious person so I don't celebrate Chrismas as a region holiday, what matters to me is being with my family, it is interesting how deep that "need" becomes, I can't imagine Christmas Eve on my own. Thinking about it coldly, it's just a normal day... It's funny how important a tradition can become.

Yeah, well you have a point there. My 9 year old pointed that out last year. The NASA dudes who put it together probably think that it is only for the very young who won't remember and/or those viewing it age out a bit quicker. Still fun when they are very little....

Me too, Bea. Still, the message of unconditional giving is a good one for anyone. My family is on the cusp of it becoming something less magical and more pragmatic.

Yay I loved this thread last year

I think for me this christmas will be extra special as firstly celebrating it at uni (me and my roommate have already cracked out the tinsel lol) and then seeing family and friends will mean so much more soon as though I have actually been away from them for the first time in my life.

The thing I am most looking forward to are the christmas concerts as my uni town has the most beautiful cathedral and it will be magical!

And what with the snow so early this year - my xmas celebrations are already started!

This weekend I am working up to Christmas by cooking some festive treats from the Jamie Oliver Christmas magazine. Just finished making panaforte (doesn't look right, hope it will be ok when cooled down!). Tomorrow moving on to Greek Christmas biscuits. Need to make some Mince Pies too for the less adventurous family and friends.

And I got all singing and dancing Buzz Lightyear for £29.99 today in Sainsburys. Yay, I am easily pleased.

Oooooh!!! Mince pies!! I always wanted to tried those!!! I remember when I first knew that they existed, it was when I was 8 or 9 in my English class at school, it was in our book.

I think I should buy the "turrón" for our Christmas meals next week!! The turrón made in Barcelona is one of the best (actually the best is made in Alicante).

Very, very happy to find out that BBC America is going to run the Dr Who Christmas Special on Christmas night! Yippee!!!!!!

As opposed to weeks later or, *gulp*, not at all....
