Well-written? Plausible explanations? AHAHAHAHAHA! No, we have half an idea, then hash a stupid solution to make it work because the Spooks audience apparently has the collective brain cells of the one viewer of "Footballers Wives." Hey, they even cast someone from that show in S9!

I would LOVE a plausible explanation. Surely the writers owe us that. I wonder if we could collectively request that Kudos make sure that CONTINUITY and BELIEVABILITY are maintained in S10. Or else we'll get Harry charged over running Wikileaks or losing the chance to host the World Cup (sorry you didn't make the second round - neither did Oz).

Sorry, didn't mean this to sound like a grumble. It's Friday night, I need a break...and that glass of white wine...followed by a whisky...

Well, if they are gonna go into Harry's inquiry for next series, then I'm sure Lucas will be mentioned considering he is the one responsible for this big Albany mess.

But how he will be remembered is the real question.

Well, that's what I mean. They might gloss over the enquiry. Should be interesting to see how they handle 10.1 Big Grin Whatever they do, I just hope it's well-written!

I've given up any hope that we will get a plausible explanation for the LN/JB story, because there doesn't seem to be any logical way out of that whole mess! So my guess is that the writers of S10 will do exactly the same thing the writers of S9 did - they will assume that the audience is just plain stupid and will buy any ridiculous storyline even if there is no connection with things they had been told in previous series. So unless they come up with that wonderful idea of Lucas only having a nightmare about being in fact JB I have to admit I don't care anymore. For me JB is among the most despicable characters of S9 and I couldn't care less if he survived or not. The character I love is Lucas and from now on I will have my own stories concerning him. I don't need those writers for that!

I've spent the last couple of weeks breaking my head over a decent explanation about S9, but I can't seem to find one, every time I think (with the help of all you posters) that I've found something that makes a bit of sense, another plothole or flaw rises to the surface (also with the help of all the posts Smile) wich undermines my thought up explanation!

I hope you aren't right about the writers of S10, WhiteSwan, to assume that we are a bunch of dumb nitwits that stare empty-headed at the tv!
I really hope they will find some way to elucidate the way S9 unraveled!
I think it would be so unfair to let Lucas leave in this uncharacteristic, cowardly way, with, as so many of you pointed out, so much loose ends to what I've always percieved (until S9!Dodgy) an intelligent series with well-constructed and decent substantiated storielines!

Just saw your post, BoHenly, I agree that the writers owe us a reasonable explanation, if S10 will be the last series, it would be such a shame if they wouldn't end it in beauty!
Really hope they will do their best to elucidate all the bad-written things from S9 in S10!
You made me laugh with that 'footballers wives' line Smile!
If you find a way to let the writers now what our demands are, sign me up, would love to speak my mind to them!
and the Belgium-Netherlands delegation didn't got the World Cup either, though no one was really surprised by that since we (Belgium) are such a 'great football nation' (that's cynical, Wink)
It's Friday noon, here, but I wouldn't mind a whiskey tooSilba

What's odd about that final scene, are the sounds. When I first saw the episode, because the TV volume was quite low, I didn't hear the car alarm and woman screaming, so I wasn't sure what had happened to Lucas. When I re-watched it on the iPlayer with subtitles on (I like to watch with subtitles, strange, I know) there was no subtitle that said 'car alarm sound and woman screams', if this was important and we are supposed to believe that Lucas jumped surely these sounds would have been 'subtitled'? And with the sound turned up you do indeed hear footsteps. I think I may be clutching at those straws again!
I'd love to write to those Kudos writers with my thoughts as well, just need to find the time!

I was really wondering about that too!
Could this mean that Lucas isn't dead and that he is going to return for S10?
If that would be true, I hope that all those loose ends will be tied up in a decent fashion!
Maybe all of this discussing we have about S9 is just making the writers laugh real hard, because they already have a S10 story arc ready, wich explains all the plotholes?
Give me some of those straws, please Wink!

Don't you think that if Lucas didn't jump but got away alive, the HS would've said something to Harry about Lucas still being out there and that he needed to be apprehended? And that it was another thing for which Harry would be in trouble at the inquest?

Guess you're probably right about that.
If they would have found no body that would have raised some questions, since they knew Lucas was going mental.
But what were the footsteps about then? Or did they just forget to edit them out (to say the noise of the feet walking was from a crewmember?)
That would be sloppy, but guess that is somewhat of a trademark for this season Angry

I'd love to know on what grounds you made that statement.

I ment the sloppy way the story arc about Lucas/John was handled, sorry if it came across as brutal, but I really have problems with the many plotholes and the unexplained flaws wich we have discussed in the Lucas-thread.
I'm just disappointed in the downfall of the writing for this season especially, or better said mostly, in terms of the development of Lucas' character, but since he was a major character, to me it reduces the whole quality of the season!
I still enjoyed the MI5-adventures, but I thought that previous seasons were more integer in the way they handled their protagonists.

I hope that was meant to be directed in a sarcastic and joking manner. I would hate to turn this into a battle of which fan group has a more "objective" opinion.
