RE: Plot-holes
It is of course possible that when the security services/police investigated the bombing they took down the details of anyone who might have been in the area on the day of the bombing, which could well have included people at the gym? It's highly unlikely, but then again... so are most things in the S9 plot

Nicholas Blake was such a interesting character, but they turned him into a card-board villain too! He was just the first of the characters that the Series 9 writers ruined to fit their little crazy story! I don't understand why if Blake was involved in Nightingale, why even bring it to Harry's attention and lead him onto the trail of Nightingale when it's only gonna serve to get him killed! It didn't even make sense! So they took out Blake and put in the new young Home Sec only to kill him, what was even the whole point of that? It doesn't serve any purpose! RIP Carter Hall ~ Hawkman |

RE: Plot-holes
Well I did say I was shutting up about it, but....
If NB was in Nightingale it was extremely silly and amateurish of him to have that £4m in a bank account so easily traceable; likewise to meet those businessmen in a place so easily photographable. Up until the start of S9 I was convinced he was set up. Meetings with dodgy businessmen photoshopped, money paid into his account and that info planted deep in the files so that the 'damned dogged bitch' would find it. Not to mention as we said before -why alert Harry to the existence of Nightingale in the first place. |

So the original photo of Lucas=Lucas was in some almost forgotten file on the Dakar bombing. Harry did ask Beth the go over everything them had on the bombing. A plot hole plugged??? But if Lucas=Lucas was in the report won't his name have been flagged as 'new MI5 recruit' and they would have wanted to interview him but then have found he was missing. I'll stop there because I like Byatil explanation and it fits with the story. Lucas 8.4: It's all about trust, isn't Harry ?. Signature by the brilliant TygerBright |

It's anyone's guess! I don't think it can be explained away. Bottom line is that MI5 should have been keeping tabs on any potential field officer, which is something they apparently neglected to do. Unless Vaughn happened to be owed a favour from someone fairly high-up in the organisation, I don't see how Lucas-really-Lucas could have been killed without anyone realising Gnothi Seauton.

I think the more pressing issue is how did no one recognize that he isn't the real Lucas? Am I to believe the real Lucas North met no one during this whole application process? That no one saw his face? No one checked up on him? Even if Lucas/John erased all that information and was a good actor, how would he know who saw the real Lucas or not? The whole concept of Lucas/John being able to pretend his way into MI5 is just ludicrous! RIP Carter Hall ~ Hawkman |

Which raises also the converse question of how it is that there are apparently only two people in the world who would recognise Lucas-is-John as John, and they are both (admittedly, very much by contrivance, in the case of Vaughan) in the immediate neighbourhood of Thames House. Did Vaughan have to wait until Maya got a job in a London hospital? Would Lucas-is-John have zipped along the M1 to Leeds for hot corridor action in the middle of the day? |

Yeah, seems odd that no-one from his Uni would have recognised him, or equally anyone from his home-town etc. seeing as he would have appeared on the news at some point (presumably). Gnothi Seauton.
