RE: Favourite films?
I was surprised by how much I liked Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. Having heard it was based on a computer game I admit I thought it would be awful, but it was great fun and really enjoyed it.

Finally got round to watching Robin Hood with Russell Crow. Not sure I like it that much, it was quite different from the 'traditional' Robin Hood story, isn't there supposed to be a second follow-up film? Much preferred Robin- Prince of Thieves

RE: Favourite films?
Just replied to another thread with the same subject, Blush, had no idea there were two threads.

My favorite movies are:
-The Lord ot Rings trilogy
-The Wizard of Oz
-The Neverending Story
-Labyrinth
-Devil's Advocate (Vanity is definatly my favorite sin Wink)
-The Matrix trilogy

And in the animated genre:
-The Iron Giant
-Corps Bride (love all that Tim Burton throws out of his magical hat!)
-Ratatouille

but I must say that there are many movies out there that I really like( I'm a bit of a moviefreak Smile)

RE: Favourite films?
Just watched The Kite Runner which was shown on BBC2 on Saturday. There aren't many films that IMO measure up to the book, but this was the exception (and it's a foreign language film with English subtitles). Just like the book, I spent quite a lot of time weeping as it is really a sad and tragic story.

If you haven't read The Kite Runner or A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, I would really recommend them both. They both portray the conflict in Afghanistan and it's effect on the people who are forced to live through it. Neither are war books, rather an insight into the personal stories of people living in very diffucult situations. Before reading the Kite Runner, my knowledge of the area and recent events was limited to TV and newspaper reports. This book changed my life in that it made me feel ashamed about my ignorance and a deep sense of injustice about what has happened there.

This isn't much of a review but please read them, they are truly amazing!

RE: Favourite films?
At long last I've seen "The King's speech" and I LOVED it!! Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush are absolutely fabulous in it. I really enjoyed the dialogues, I laughed a lot!! Well deserved the Golden Glove, Colin.

Talking about him, I've also watched A Single Man, recently. Totally different film, but I liked the story, and loved how the director handle the colour filters depending on the mood of the main character.

No need to say I'm a fan of CF, he's gorgeous! Big Grin
