RE: Episode 5.5 [Rewatch]
This episode makes me really notice how good the inclusion of Mace's character was in these episodes. He's a great character for Harry to Sapr with and it's nice to see that.
I agree with Ros trying to make it up to Harry in the future. I also think she knows her mistake by the time she switches places with Ruth in her house. I think Ros wanted to apologise despite only following the correct course of action. (Apart from the going over Harry's head to the JIC bit). I think Ros remembers this as Series 8 Spoiler: show Codename Kirayuki: Vid Maker. H/R & Ruth fan. |

RE: Episode 5.5 [Rewatch]
There´s one thing I didn´t understand in this episode, maybe because I missed something being not a native English speaker, but: The microfilm wasn´t a fake, was it? Then, who was really meant to be the "Fox" in section D? They finished to tell to everyone it was Ruth, but who was it in reality??

It was made up and added to the document to stop Section D revealing its existance, if it was ever found. |

RE: Episode 5.5 [Rewatch]
Thanks you! I understand now, and yes, it makes sense...
One more thing - what purpose had the empty CD-ROM? When the man gave Ruth that banknote, he wanted her to find the microfilm, so why guide her to this false scent? It only slowed her investigation so that she at first didn´t search for nothing more and didn´t see the ancient king picture... |

RE: Episode 5.5 [Rewatch]
That was all done by Mace to frame Ruth - Maudsley never intended to give her a disk - he only wanted her to go to his house and notice the Offa picture, as far as I understood it.

Certainly one of the biggest 'tear-jerker' moments in all of Spooks.

I've just got to ask what everyone thought of that kiss?? I just thought it was so sweet, especially the way Harry sort of leans his forehead against Ruths. Could so see a kiss in series 10 that then gets a bit more heated. All I can say is how lucky is NW he looks like such a good kisser.

RE: Episode 5.5 [Rewatch]
It was a brilliant kiss, and yes lucky NW! It was perfect for their situation. More of a tender kiss than a passionate one, and quite obviously a kiss goodbye.
Series 8/9 Spoiler: show |

RE: Episode 5.5 [Rewatch]
I think it's heart-breaking and a bit pitiful. How sad a commentary is it of them as people that the only time they can really show each other how they feel is when they think they will never see each other again? It is a great illustration of the on-going theme of Spooks that spies are fantastic at their jobs and pathetic in the real lives.
Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks]; And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. ~Wm. Shakespeare, Hamlet |
