RE: Status 2.0
Slightly annoyed having purchased tickets for tomorrow's afternoon performance of Blithe Spirit months ago, only to find out there is a huge demo planned in London tomorrow and it's expected to all kick off !!
I shall not be pleased if I miss HN and end up being kettled and trampled with a police horse. |

RE: Status 2.0
the organisers have there own stuewards its my mums union but as we live in scotland just getting to london is a logistical nightmare so she isnt going! but its valid reasons they are protesting for i.e. they have just had a 4 year pay freeze in HMRC and are now getting another 3 year one ;( - they said on the new this morning that most of the student demos the probelm was the poliece and they are being watched in there control room by human rights groups. but there is always going to be trouble because there are people who are PCS or public service workers who will go on the march and ruin it for everyone so its the damage thats reported rather than why these people are rightly p[rotesting against this government
(steps of high horse) i got paid 2 days early ;-) SPOOKS 2002-2011 - Thanks for the Memory's

I've just got back. Hundreds of thousands of people, a parade atmosphere, people from every walk of life and the whole span of ages. The police were great, actually - goodnatured and engaging with people. There's some trouble going on at Oxford Circus but it didn't affect the march at all. It was so huge that I never did catch up with the people I was supposed to hook up with. I finally caught up with another friend right at the end of the march - we're so old now that our post-march activity is not downing lots of beer, it's sitting having a cup of coffee in Ask! "Where's Harry?" "Moving in mysterious ways." |

A Cousin, I got my first ever bifocals (officially, they're "progressive lenses," as if that's less insulting) this Tuesday. Apparently *I* am not excepted from normal aging. And I thought I was so special!

Glad that no one here got caught up in the violence! Just checked the morning papers and my first thoughts were for those of you who said they were out and about in London yesterday. Had to come on here to check. Hope Blithe Spirit was fabulous, Tea Lady and Nia!

Hope Blithe Spirit was fabulous, Tea Lady and Nia! London was fine. The violence was kept to Picadilly in the afternoon and then I luckily just got a train home before it kicked off at Charing Cross in the evening. I don't think I have ever seen London so busy. Good for those that protested peacefully. |

I had my annual eye test yesterday and was told that I am 'on the foothills of long sight!' I think that's like saying 'getting old' but more polite LOL! Watch those bifocals going down the stairs A Cousin. They are the are the main cause of old folk falling down the stairs. Think they sort of distort things when you are walking about in them. Not that you are old or anything |
