spooks does this though they dont feel the need to i personaly didnt need one i assumed adam told harry what he did and he made contact with her hence rangefinder - i think she worked for harry all along he knew he could trust her after he went back to save him

I don't want to belabor the point, so with this post I'll just let it rest. The tension that was built up during Ros's involvement in Yalta and the emotion of her getting that one-way ticket out of MI5 is retroactively cheapened, when all of it is forgiven as part of a quick plot device. The rules create the tension & risk which the characters must deal with. I think what drew me into the show was partly the fact that there was an element of plausibility to most things that happened. The show took the time to ensure that things happened for a reason, at least with respect to the way the spooks operated & reacted. What displeased me regarding this scenario with Ros is that I feel the door is opened to break more rules of the game in future episodes without so much as throwaway explanation. Now, when someone is booted from MI5, I won't care as much because it can all be undone as a matter of convenience.

I've already spoken earlier on this thread about why I was OK with how Ros was written back in, but I guess her coming back on the team was more plausible than how she was written out. Which says more about season 6 than it does anything else.

Especially given the new audience being sought with so many features of season 7, it was enough to know that Ros had previously worked for Five, that not everyone knew she was still working for Five and that she had some history with Adam, as implied by their tiny moment outside the cenotaph and then her reaction to his death.

I'm with Ihatetivo on this one. My problem is not that the whole thing is unrealistic, because let's face it, in terms of procedure this show has never been that realistic. For me her return and immediate elevation to main hero is a betrayal of the reasons I personally find this show so compelling: it is about people for whom loyalty to and sacrifice for their country means everything. Ros betrayed her country twice, and each of these times she came back to the good side only when she had no other option and it was the only way to save herself.

Now they ask me to accept that this character upon her return has suddenly become the most loyal of all, and in fact none of her colleagues wonder whether she won't betray them again next time she is not happy with the way things are going. That's what really irks me about her storyline.
