RE: Episode 2 Discussion
I love how you feel the need to tell the boys on here to be gentle
No we haven't really, have we? Although I suppose oil changes everything... DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered. |

RE: Episode 2 Discussion
I'm really just wandering off piece (you and I are doing that all over the forum atm)! I know there's a thread somewhere about why women are attracted to Harry.
The bit about Russia was to try and get us back on topic a bit. I am surprised by how much people like episode 2 so much more than the first. Maybe because it's "easier" viewing. I know a diehard Spooks fan who found it really distressing. And she couldn't stomach 5.5 until she knew Ruth was coming back. |

RE: Episode 2 Discussion
Sorry! I promise to stop soon...
Episode 1 was seriously depressing though - it's not an episode that I will repeatedly watch. I have now watched episode 2 four times, and episode one three times, and I'm going to keep watching episode 2 until the next one comes out. It makes me feel happier - the HR relationship is improving, and that makes me smile (Yes I am a HR fan ) BTW, the conversation between Harry and Jo at the end, when they're talking about Ruth is really annoying me - I love their conversation but the light keeps blocking them out and it's annoying me! But that's international politics for you - the enemy of my enemy is my friend. And let's not forget how fast Russia and the US became enemies after 1945. Countries don't have friends, only interests. (Thank you West Wing) They were basically manipulated into working with the Russians by the Americans. The Russians now have the UK over a barrel, who needs nuclear devices when you can threaten to switch off the country's lights? |

I love both episodes, you're right, the thing is that I needed a calm 2nd episode after the distressing first one... I *knew* you were a Sorkin fan - me too. And it's absolutely true. It's just really sad given that bare days, possibly a week or two earlier, they were ready to blast them into oblivion. That old conflict is also why season 7's storyline struck such a chord. Russia is the old enemy, and there's something a little bit sexy about Cold War spy politics.
Personally, I found the bare bones of this story one of the most frightening in Spooks history. I'm with Harry, I love the Norwegians. |

The paralleles between then and 8.2 is striking. Besides, Russia has shown a tendency to change sides since WWII... |

RE: Episode 2 Discussion
Exactly - that's why they're scary! That and the absence of belief.
No, it's more than that as to why Harry loves Scandinavia. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Harry loves Christmas trees. Maybe he and Ruth could decorate one together? |

Oh definitely I once read a really fluffy fic about them decorating a Christmas Tree together, set post 4.10 I think.
