That would also explain why it might be Elena collecting the briefcase, possibly on her husband's orders. The tragedy, Greek or otherwise, will be that Sasha is caught in the middle.

Perhaps Gavrik said that because he knows Sasha is not his son. Knowing or suspecting Harry was the true father would certainly keep him in the mind's eye.

Didn't Harry say he had organised their defection but it didn't proceed? I think it was Elena that ditched Harry. Harry got his mate Jim to also burn her as a CIA asset so Elena would never be needed again to go spying.

OK, I'm confused. All spaniels follow me to the Harry thread for clarification. Wink

If the information Martha retrieved from Gavrik's computer implicates him in the Iraq dirty deals we may discover who else is involved, not that I often correctly guess where Spooks is taking me!

I've thought about this. I'm not in a position to rewatch, but I remember the girl on the phone saying that unfortunately someone was killed. Was she talking about the assassin or the Russian FSB agent the assassin killed? If she was talking about the FSB agent, that would indicate to me that the woman on the phone is Russian and that the Russians made that attempt on Gavrik, perhaps to convince the British that he is on the level? To prevent the British to look into what Gavrik is really busy with, in other words.

Another one for the tickler file. I may be the last one to figure this out, but that Wordsworth poem Coaver quotes to Harry may have a deeper significance much like the use of Beethoven's moonlight Sonata during Harry's meeting with Elena. (Question from a non-Londoner: did they actually meet on the Westminster Bridge?)

Wordsworth wrote that poem when he and his sister were on their way to Calais to meet with his ex-mistress and illegitimate daughter. He wanted to marry his childhood sweetheart. The purpose of the trip was to come to some sort of arrangement regarding his obligations to the mistress and daughter as well as to clear his conscience towards them in order to marry. He had told the mistress that he wanted to marry nine years earlier but the war between Britain and France had made travel impossible up until then.

One to ponder....

Because the Russian characters are speaking with an accent I assumed that girl wasn't Russian because she didn't. I had the impression she was talking on the phone about the guy that Erin shot who had attempted to kill Gavrik and that she thought everything was going to plan which made me think whoever sent him in knew he'd fail. I can only think MI6 has an agenda and maybe Erin is working for them. Perhaps she had orders from them to kill him so he couldn't talk. There again I have a different theory every time I think about it so had better stop thinking for the next 24 hours!! LOL

I love the pace of the series so far (more drama; less action) but please Spooks, yet another major character cast aside? No no no.....

Just noticed when Sasha is filling in the fake UK Border Protection exit paperwork for Anatoly, he notes his entry and exit date as 24 October 2011. That will fool them....

Shame to lose Tariq.

This season is becoming just as good as the rest, so many twists and turns...
