RE: Episode 4 Discussion
On Oleg, I didn't feel sorry for him as he was the one responsible for the bomb in the end. He was just trying to buy his own freedom by playing Lucas for a fool. I think Harry decreed that they hand him over to the Russians in an attempt to repair some of the damage recent events had caused in UK/Russia relations. Perhaps he also wanted him as far away as possible from Lucas.

RE: Episode 4 Discussion
You know, that's not a bad last point about getting the two of them split up. More convincing than trying to repair things with the Russians though - Harry has the upper hand there at the moment, although it fluctuates from week to week.
You're right though about Oleg being responsible for the bomb. I kind of forgot that. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: Episode 4 Discussion
I felt a little sorry for him too (not sure why), but I also think Oleg was playing with them (mostly with Lucas, after all they lived together, they owed him nothing, so it was right to give him back to the FSB. I don't think he would be a good double agent, I wouldn't trust him at all!
I was kind of expecting Lucas' past reavealed, (most of us did) it was a necesary episode, we need to know more about Lucas being tortured by the Russians. I was really shocked by the suicide attempt, and Oleg manipulate Lucas to believe he (Oleg) save his life... I didn't like that Lucas was suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.. that kind of made him less edgy & dark..

I thought that the suicide attempt would have been earlier, but maybe he never had an opportunity. I think Oleg was experiencing some version of Stockholm syndrome - he trusted Lucas too much, maybe even love, from his speech about saving him. DANNY - Placements all over the shop. RE: Episode 4 Discussion
Really? It's not exactly something he could help. I find it makes sense given Lucas' passion as a person, he's really quite susceptible to something like Stockholm.

I think it was good, Stockholm Syndrome is such an strange and amazing (in the bad sense) "feeling" (I don't know how to call it), it's a contradiction, and Lucas being a well-trained officer suffering from this syndrome... It shows how complicated human mind is! No matter how prepared you are, life is harder than that. RE: Episode 4 Discussion
That's pretty hard after 8 years in a Russian prison, I'd imagine. I know what you mean though. I get what you're saying Beatriz, and ultimately, it is a mental illness, although some people are more likely to fall under its guise.
I will go quickly OT just for a sec! and say that I'd like to understand more about Lucas as a person. He has something that Ruth has too - a love of people and places, and yet an inherent loneliness. I really hope the show sticks around long enough to explore that. And I want to see more of the dynamic between Lucas and Ruth. OK, I'm back on topic! I loved Tariq's new get-up, with his vest. It suited him. Tariq's fun, I'm enjoying him a lot. He also looks terrific in his Santa hat Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: Episode 4 Discussion
I see your point JHyde - Ruth and Lucas are very similar, although I didn't really notice it before. Both are lonely, but both are at the top of their game. Both have undergone torture (although in different ways,) but both still come back. Both have a complicated relationship with Harry atm, yet both are professional.
DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered. |
