RE: Favorite Film Directors
I'm going to put Terry Gilliam on this list because I think he's really old school, and his films are always worth the price of admission just to see what's going on in his head. I haven't seen Parnassus yet, so don't spill the beans.
Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: Favorite Film Directors
I am a major fan of both the works of Tim Burton and Richard Kelly.
Tim Burton we all know from films like Sleepy Hollow, Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd etc etc, and Richard Kelly is the guy who wrote and directed Donnie Darko, and S Darko (Which are amazing films by the way!!!) I just feel that Tim's techniques are unique to himself, and his ideals are so original and intruicate to the rest of the film world. Kelly's films are immensely thought provoking, and whenever I watch one of his movies, I just-- He makes you question every element you felt you were certain of, and all those unanswered questions become a little bit clearer. Its such a precious gift. |

RE: Favorite Film Directors
I like alll of the above mentioned directors. Especially Tim Burton.
However i would like to add Baz Luhrmann to the list. Although he has only directed a couple of films i think they are amazing. Arkardy Katchimov: You look after Lucas now he's home. He's weak, he's tired... and tell him, eat broccoli. Harry Pearce: I think he's suffered enough, don't you? |

RE: Favorite Film Directors
I was going to add him too, as Moulin Rouge is one of my favourite films and Romeo+Juliet was very well done, from my point of view, I like his atmophere he creates on these films. I was a little disappinted with Australia, though Hugh Jackman was amazing, so cute! (perhaps the 1st of January is not the best day to go to the cinema after the party of the night before )

RE: Favorite Film Directors
I really, really don't want to know what Tim Burton's parents did to him as a child. I love his movies though...even Planet of the Apes.
Beatriz, you should be more than a little disappointed by Australia. Always love your country, but never trust your government. |

RE: Favorite Film Directors
I suppose the view of Hugh Jackman lessened the disappointment (This phrase sounds terrible, talking about grammar )

RE: Favorite Film Directors
If you want to watch good Australian movies, there are lots of them in my posts both in this thread and also in the fave films.
(Don't worry Beatriz, we'll chalk your slightly less articulate than usual sentence down to swooning over the lovely Hugh Jackman.) Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: Favorite Film Directors
My thinking about Hugh Jackman blurred my mind
I'll have a look! Which australian film director do you like the better? (sorry for this off-topic, I'll put it in spoiler tags, though there're no spoilers at all in it Spoiler: show "Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt" Pactum serva |

RE: Favorite Film Directors
I love that you put that in spoiler tags! I'm sure they'll be there soon!
I would recommend Sarah Watt, try "Look Both Ways". Neil Armfield (who usually does theatre) directed "Candy" which is brilliant (as is the book) and there are others which I'll put in the film thread. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |
