RE: Episode 7 Discussion
I understood that scene, as once Dyllon knew he was used by Victor/Nightingale (because they knew of his strong believes against muslims and 'had a temper' as Lucas described him) he lost his motivation for lighting up the institute with the girls inside, after all he didn't need much persuassion to let go the girl.
Still, I got the impression, that the humiliation and pain made him think about lighting up himself, because IMO he kept the lighter ready to use it.
So when I said that Ashok saved him, I meant, prevent to kill himself, more than continue with the plan, at least that's how I saw it Undecided

Indirectly by preventing Dyllon to do it, they avoided anyone else to get hurt, after all the floor was also with gasoline, so if he did light himself up, the fire could have spread easily.

RE: Episode 7 Discussion
The Ashoks of the world offer hope for peace. Although they revere their past, the Ashoks have assimilated well into society . They live, love, play, and yes, drink, like any blokes we hung out with. Spooks gave us a glimpse of Ashok's psyche when he said he played football with the Hindus because others would not because he was Asian. Historical foes like the Hindus is not a factor for Ashok- football is. The Ashoks are the second or third generation immigrants

Unfortunately, some (not all) first generation immigrants, like Victor, came to the country with emotional baggage They act out their hatred here, and we all suffer. I'm lost on how else we can do to help them change.

I am perplexed because I do not imply that they should kill somewhere else. The recent events in Mumbai is too painful to recollect.

The Ashtoks give me hope and peace of mind. As an individual, I will continue to reach out to the Ashoks and the Dhillons.

I fear for the consequence of what Ashoks told Lucas "Victor played Dhillon and you played me, liar man". Did the experience make him aspire to remain English or join the Taliban?

I was let down when Ashoks said nobody else want to play football with him because he is Asian. It's a sad business. This is the 21st century. Why can't we just celebrate our diversity.

Excellent! This is an example of someone living this situation. A lot of us looking in (I'm from the US, not too up on UK politics) liked the "liar man" comment. It wasn't a standout for me but I appreciated the witty dialog. You were dismayed at the comment because you know it could call up fearsome possibilities.

Thanks for the insight.

Rooftop scene:
Beth and Dmitri sneak up and disarm Lucas, cuff him and lead him away.
Lucas screams, "No Harry please, I'd rather die!"

Harry: "We're sending you to rehab ................. in Texas."

RE: Episode 7 Discussion
Hopefully, we'll have a whole new bunch of people joining the conversation in a few hours after the show's screened on BBC1. If you live in the UK, don't forget to turn your TV on so the show gets the ratings!

RE: Episode 7 Discussion
... You do know that ratings are calculated by recording what a few people watch (few comparative to the number of people in the UK,) which is then extrapolated, so it doesn't really matter if I watch it because I haven't got a box which records what I watch, and so Beeb don't know if I am...

Having said that Spooks is on downstairs, with my mum, dad and sister all watching it (I'm too tired Sad)

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

I can't believe I'm the only one who wanted to make Lucas plumber jokes.

Although, if you want to make any, make sure you post other stuff about the episode too.
