RE: Favorite Film Directors
I can't remember if I put Mike Nichols down on my original list, but I love that he's still making movies I talk about for ages after I've seen them, 40 years after he got into the industry. It's amazing how many of his movies span my favourite movies list right across his filmography.

RE: Favorite Film Directors
I've never seen Australia, or any australian films. Or Moulin Rouge.
Am I missing out? |

RE: Favorite Film Directors
I totally love Moulin Rouge! It's one of my favourite films, it's a musical and I enjoy them.
Australia is ok, but if you want to see Hugh Jackman, he's specially handsome "Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt" Pactum serva |

RE: Favorite Film Directors
I liked Moulin Rouge a lot and I don't normally go for musicals. It's a fun movie. I think Ewan MacGregor may have been a bit weak in it, but overall it was good.
I didn't realize Baz Luhrmann has only directed 4 films. Always love your country, but never trust your government. |

Martin Scorses is my favourite, followed by the Coen Brothers (Fargo in particular), also like Aki Kaurismaki (Leningrad Cowboys Go America is a classic)

RE: Favorite Film Directors
Gotta love the Coen brothers. Even their weaker films are great and interesting. Clint Eastwood's are like that too, even his lesser ones are worth the price of admission. Mainly because sometimes the most interesting story is one of the subplots that's just layered with tension. His movies are usually about redemption, I find - that's what they boil down to.
