RE: [spoilers] How Did You Rate Season 8?
Didn't like S8 but I promised to be kind until the new year. So here's my take on S8.
Series 8 broke gender stereotype. Whilst Harry Pierce mellowed, Ros - the epitome of cool - emerged as the true leader; Ruth, remained totally cerebral. And there was, well, sexsuasive Sarah in control. As a result, character Lucas in S8 was objectified: diligent factotum to Ros, delightful to watch, titillating. Contrast this to previous series, Adam grieved for personal loss & wept for son, but none the less thought rationally to triumph over missions. Lucas in S7 tossed his wife aside, like a coin, for service to queen and country. The show, after all, was Spooks. Then Lucas came out of left field in E8-2, when he began showing unbridled feelings every opportunity he had. Utterly charming. I fell in love again. Rare to find blokes who were in touch w/ their féminin side. But a coup no doubt according to some hard lined feminists i know. (They're not my idea of fun.) |
