Ah but when Lucas said that stuff to her he didn't sound confident - more like he'd gone in there with a list of things to say, trying to talk himself out of his feelings. When Sarah pleaded to go away with him he said "You're insane" but maintained eye contact for a little longer than reasonable - he was thinking about possibilities I'm sure of it.
