Interesting question indeed. I guess *fingers in ears* ignoring the fact that all good things come to an end doesn't help
I don't want to think about the end yet but in true Spooks style it'll probably happen suddenly and unexpectedly.
Were it not to, I'd LOVE to see some ActionHarry.. before he is forced to retire on medical grounds, leaving and living with Ruth and leaving the job to Ros (one can dream, no?!?)
As pointed out above, it probably depends on who's left, and also what the socio-economical-political-... situation is at the time, and how much leash the writers would be given (if any at all)
Let's just hope we won't have to find out at the end of series 9.. I'll go and think of plots
