RE: Character not returning *spoilers*
Well, the Biz of the Biz is different in the UK than it is in the US. Simple geography plays a part but the culture of what is accepted is different.

An actors ability to move back and forth between stage, TV and film is much smoother in the UK, partially because the biz is primarily located in London. This opens up more opportunities for work in general thus more movement between jobs. In the US, while there are exceptions to the rule, for the most part, stage work is in New York and TV/film work is in California with 3000 miles separating them, literally and figuratively.

I believe that the disparity in the pay scale between the mediums is also less wide in the UK than in the US, but I could be wrong about that. When a US actor gets a TV or film gig, they are making a lot more (A LOT MORE) money than they would on stage. It is big news when an TV/film actor plays Broadway in the US where as in the UK, no one blinks.

Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks];
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

~Wm. Shakespeare, Hamlet
