RE: Lucas North Speculation
I thought of an (implausible) analogy.
Imagine if the character of Dr Gil Grissom of CSI, who, after years of being set up as the mild-mannered entomologist, deep thinker, and thorough investigative scientist, was suddenly found out to be Arthur "The Axeman" Connolly (apologies to anyone with that name), who hacked up 12+ victims in his early twenties along with a colleague "just because he wanted to see what insects turned up," changed his identity and became an eminent scientist. BUT some 20 years later, his colleague turned up with a bottle of bugs, and suddenly "Gil" decides to betray his CSI team and forward all the Forensics Departments secrets to the Mafia, but not before running off with a woman, Maria (not Sarah, obviously) who he's been wildly in love with for over 20 years. He faces off against "Brass" on the top of the Stratosphere tower in Las Vegas, Brass pleads with him, but yes, we know the end. Does anyone think that CSI fans would accept this? Why should they? Then please tell me why we should accept this for the character of Lucas? (And apologies to the fans and writers of CSI. I loved the show with Grissom, sadly I found it hard to watch once he'd gone). |
