RE: What is Sweet Tea?
I'm rather fond of Russian Caravan tea myself - with milk, no sugar. Hope that doesn't mean I'm in cahoots with the enemy!
Best mint tea (whether spear-, pepper-, or just common garden variety) is made from leaves picked fresh from the garden, boiling water poured over them and left to steep for 5 mins The weird thing I find is that while tea drinking seems to cross social boundaries (I'm thinking here of how it is depicted in Spooks, as well as more generally), the way it is drunk (in a cup or a mug, loose leaf in a teapot or tea bag, served with milk or lemon, honey or sugar) often reveals a lot about social status, class alignment, and age. "I like the niceties. They protect us from tyranny." |
