Doesn't she meet the french agent in the hopes of getting info about Zaf? That scene is the catalyst for the over arching theme. As I mentioned before, this intro feels a bit superimposed to me. Although I agree with Kaz that Ros very much has a soft spot for Zaf in general which might explain it. However, for me, they do Ret Con Ros a bit to make it fit.

Maybe Malcolm needs help with his crossword puzzles? Connie has been established as a puzzle person too! Seriously, I took it on more of an operational level. Throughout the end of S5 and the first couple of S6 episodes, the connection developing between Malcolm and Harry is part of this. The stress of being the only senior analyst is showing and Harry sees it. Malcolm is not very good under stress. More so than any others. I think Harry needs her too and is using Malcolm as a bit of an excuse.

BTW, Connie is drinking gin. Mr AC (ex-bartender) confirms that it looks like Tangueray, a mid shelf gin. What does that say about her?
