On the subject of carrot cake, we have a family tradition of making a carrot cake before the arrival of a new baby to keep mum going in that first week. I am feeling lots of similiarities here. Nine months of suspense and speculation: will the day ever arrive, will everyone be ok, what new challenges lie ahead? Finally the happy day is here. Out with the cake. Followed by smiles, tears, sleepless nights, exhaustion, joy. Yup, carrot cake it is, then.
