I think british TV shows are in general much better than american but i personally enjoy House, The closer, Burn notice, Mentalist (but must admit that after Spooks marathon I find it less exciting).

Waking dead, Wire in the blood is among the fav... The swedish tv show very much Midsummer murders, Inspector Lewis etc
