This episode marks a very clear turning point for Ros' character. The writers were obviously trying to get us on Ros' side, and given her actions in 5.5 it was step they had to take.

How successful it was is up for debate. Personally I did like her a lot better after the second half of season 5 but then they blow it all to hell in season 6.

I don't buy the lapse of time as indicated by Harry's Diary, there are several reasons as to why this doesn't wash.
