Oh yes, I loved this episode. Sadly the depiction of African politics and how it often works is accurate (I should know, I live here!). I've worked with these things, and these types of conferences are always a hotbed for intelligence agencies. Also the most important deals are usually made behind the scenes - we call it 'corridor diplomacy'. So this episode was very true to real life.
I also LOVED the Harry/Ruth B-plot, poor Harry. I wanted to hug him in that corridor scene when Ruth walked away. I thought it was very daring for Spooks to let our heroes assist the woman to assassinate the politician. If this were an American show, I bet they would never have done that. This is what really attracts me to Spooks - they are not afraid to show the dark side of the job. |
