How did you get into watching Spooks?
Couldn't find a thread about this out there, so here goes.
I personally got into it via watching Richard Armitage in the first two series of Robin Hood. Saw that he was going to be in Spooks S7, so thought I'd give it a proper go. And, well, the rest is history now Anyone else? Do we have anyone who has been watching right from the very first episode?? Av & sig by TygerBright, using my screencaps |

RE: How did you get into watching Spooks?
Some coworkers were watching in the break room. I believe it was the 5 series and it seemed interesting enough. So I went home, put it on my netfilx DVD orders, and have been hooked ever since.

RE: How did you get into watching Spooks?
Back story: I was vaguely aware of it through some friends at a on-line Jane Austen forum. I was drawn to the actors in it - PF, MM, RPJ, RA, Keeley Hawes, Gemma Jones, Anna Chancellor and Robert Glenister to be specific - all of whom I was aware of from various TV/film adaptations of novels I like. Many of them had Spooks on their wish list at NetFlix but were experiencing long waits for it, so I just never did it.
I really have Philip Glenister to thank for the final impetus. I started checking out (the UK) Life on Mars on YouTube while I was waiting for the (American) LoM to self destruct so the rights for the original would be released for American viewership. Through a combination of Philip => Robert Glenister, finding out that both LoM and Spooks are produced by Kudos, and my previous awareness of it, one led me to the other. My Public Broadcasting Station started running it from S1E1 in January of 2009. Ta-Dah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks]; And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. ~Wm. Shakespeare, Hamlet |

RE: How did you get into watching Spooks?
I started watching from the first season and the first episode. I thought that I would give it a try and see how it went.
I loved the fact the writers were not afraid to write stories that assumed that the viewer has some intelligence and has story lines that showed the world was not black and white but shades of grey and that the main characters could be killed off mid season (well any time in the season). Since then I have not missed an episode, I have altered nights out and even holidays so that I don't miss any of it |

My sister got season 3 because she thinks RPJ is hot, and I was sitting around reading a book whilst she was watching, and got hooked by the Harry character.

Snap....I loved Richard Armitage in North and South (not so much in Robin as he had long hair..yuk!), saw he was going into to Spooks so started watching season 7...quickly got hooked, bought and watched seasons 1-7 and have totally changed my allegiance to Harry!!

RE: How did you get into watching Spooks?
I was watching from the beginning, which in Australia was sometime in 2003, I am pretty sure.
I had been a fan of PF by that stage for about 2 years and was trying to watch stuff he was in after watching Equus in Year 12 (2001) and so that was how I got hooked. I did stop and start a bit, mostly because of how the ABC screened seasons. Many thanks to Tyger for a terrific signature |

RE: How did you get into watching Spooks?
I love good spy and crime stories, both books & movies but I got to Spooks thanks to wonderful RA performance in North and South.
Besides the TV here (Italy) is of such a poor quality that I am often on the look-out for something BBC-esque (meaning: worthy my time). |

RE: How did you get into watching Spooks?
Another RA reason here, I had caught odd episoded of other series before, and really enjoyed them, but then RL got in the way, and missed loads. Saw that RA was in series 7, got totally hooked, and had to play catch up then!!
Lucas North: Your situation is more precarious than you realize, Connie, so stop pressing buttons and give us something. Connie James: Threats don't work with a person who has nothing to lose. Lucas North: Oh, you're too ingenious to think that I'm threatening you. I'm offering you a simple choice: help us or don't. I'll leave you to compute the implication. |
