This is a great episode. Pity the whole season wasn't this good.

Hah! No, I forgot all about the dog. I told him last night and he laughed. He seems to think that happened to a silent film star: Marie Prevost. Nick Lowe wrote a song about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWunemmwJHM

It's a urban legend though. Her dog had nipped at her legs trying to wake her up. But I do have to wonder if this was on their minds when they wrote/mentioned it? But I will never know.

I also told him about Ruth's cut line to Harry after he tells her that he has handed in his resignation, "We're all born covered in blood, Harry." He thought that was an unfortunate cut, as did I.

As he did not really like S8 as much as other series, I am very curious to see how he will react to the rest of S9.
