I have one friend who watches Spooks (although I think she does so mainly for the RA eye-candy) and another friend who watches some good drama (eg. Accused, Life on Mars etc... sadly not Spooks) but that's about it. That's why I joined this forum actually; I was desperate to discuss Spooks with someone, but no-one I know really watches the show Sad

Yeah, that's what I'd assume. People want something quick and shocking to keep them entertained, preferably something they don't have to think about too much after a long day at work Wink It kind of annoys me that Spooks seems to be trying to be more "exciting" recently, at the expense of the wit and intelligence which it usually carries

*sighs* its annoying isn't it? Sad
I also have a friend who loves RA, she's a Robin Hood fan so I told her to try out Spooks, I don't know if she did Wink
A lot of my friends watch stuff like "True Blood" or "Waterloo Road" which I can't actually stand... I find the boring and wooden.
Me too Smile I joined the forum so I could chat freely about Spooks, its great! Big Grin

I noticed that, but I don't think S9 lost what Spooks is good at.
It still kept me entertained and thinking, the storylines for Spooks will always make people think because of how complex they are but there were more kind of Soap elements introduced.
The best thing I think about Spooks is although its a serious Drama, it brings in some reality, some fiction and it creates complex and interesting storylines involving the profession side of MI5, as well as exploring the personal lives and the reality of working for them, the amount of people that die, the killing of characters, is something nothing else on TV does, its not all happy endings and unlike the soaps its not constantly depressing either and people die when they are doing a dangerous job which is a reality Wink The mix of serious Drama that makes you think, the little bits of humour and the mix of personal relationships, romantic and working relationships is what I suppose draws people in, but if you miss something, its hard to understand whats going on...seems like these awards, winners are shows that people don't have to think about...

waterloo road winning best drama the actually pathetic. that show has some of the most ridiculous story lines with some of the most tragic acting i've ever seen. shows like spooks will never win becuase you need a basic degree of knowledge/brain activity to understand them, which most of these voters obviously lack.
