RE: Series 10 confirmed
Spooks still gets very good ratings for a BBC1 drama AND makes a whole lot of money for BBC worldwide. I think there was an article in the press about this only a few months ago. If this continues into S10 then it may still carry on. Why cancel something that is still going strong even though it does have its critics? It keeps re-inventing itself and finding a new audience. For example, my three nephews have just discovered it this season and now sit down with their mother in silence for 60mins. Quite an achievement!
Lets not forget that it is only us Spooks nuts that really analyse ever second of each episode, seeking out holes in the plot. Most of the population just watch it as light entertainment, enjoy their 60mins, and get on with their lives again until next week. It must be Kudos' most successful show in terms of income for them. To be honest, I think it will go when Peter throws in the towel. I honestly believe that his character has that much influence on the shows future. |

Are there really people like that out there??? Nope, sorry don't believe that at all Lucas 8.4: It's all about trust, isn't Harry ?. Signature by the brilliant TygerBright |

SHP is the one character who can't be killed off without dooming the show. "What is the truth?" "Betrayal is a cancer. Let it eat your soul, not mine." "Please tell me this isn't going where I think it's going." |

Yes absolutely, my husband for one. However, last night when he caught up with E8 (which I was watching again!) he did shout out 'Oh Ruth, what's wrong with the woman? She's getting on my nerves. Poor Harry, what's the bloke to do?' So she even gets to normal people! |

I completely agree with both of you, Harry is pretty much integral to the show and its long term future. It is rather ironic in that Kudos have tried very hard to establish the idea that no character is bigger than the show, but SHP is arguably the exception to that rule-increasingly so with every passing series. |

RE: Series 10 confirmed
I see what you're trying to say, Harry is vital to the show. Can't have one without the other. This doesn't mean that he's bigger than the show though as most people will have heard of Spooks but not Harry Pearce unless they've watched it.

RE: Series 10 confirmed
I would think they could take SHP off the grid, but still be central to the plot. And if ratings dropped, reinstate him. All the time carrying on the plot with Ruth. And still having influence over the team.

Slightly off the topic, but I don't know quite where to post this (so Mods, please move if necessary).
If S10 has been confirmed (I think we can assume that from the notice at the end of S9.8), will the DVD of S9 be delayed until October 2011? |

There aren't any other loose ends apart from Harry and the team will probably appear to have moved on from the loss of Lucas. I don't think that the story arc for S10 will be all about Harry somehow. They still have to cover the threat of the week and let's face it, they will need him on the grid. Plus, Ruth will had a chance to get her arse into gear and realise that Harry is her blue-shirted hero. |
