Interview with Michael Caton-Jones
An interview with Spooks director Michael Caton-Jones in the Herald Scotland. Not much in the way of Spooks info but fascinating nonetheless.

RE: Interview with Michael Caton-Jones
There is an interview with Michael specifically about his Spooks experience in the Times last Mon 20th Sept. It is very interesting. He directs tonight's episode. I don't know how to link directly to the article because you now seem to have a subscription to view the Times online and I just buy the hardcopy. I do still have the article and was thinking of having a go at scanning it in if people were interested. Or maybe someone technically competent might be able to link to it?

Thank you for the link Aria Smile Very interesting interview.

We'd be very grateful if you could scan the article, watchstrap, specially those outside the UK; now that you need a subscription the online edition.

Thanks for the heads up, watchstrap. I subscribe to The Times website and I missed this. He is very complimentary about PF and NW, but on the whole didn't really enjoy his experience on Spooks. I would copy and paste the text, but I'm not sure if that is copyright infringement?? Hope you can scan the hard copy watchstrap.

Thank you Watchstrap and Bea. Very interesting.

Is it me, or does he come over a little full of himself? I don't think he needs to wait next to the phone to be invited back after this brutally honest interview.Tongue

Still, it's great that he has high regard for all the actors on the show, and PF in particular. Come on Kudos, listen to him, and make more use of his talents.

RE: Interview with Michael Caton-Jones
He came across as arrogant, full of his own importance, and someone with a very short attention span. Bless him, not able to concentrate on one episode of Spooks! He obviously missed the point that it is an eight part series in a story that has been running for nine years. It is not a self contained film.

Funny how he couldn't see the point of Maya and Lucas, but he was all in favour of Harry and Ruth. Maybe a did have a point there! Let's face it, Spooks would be none the worse off without Lucas' back story, in fact it is just background noise in an otherwise gripping show.

The Scotland Herald article explains some of his "attitude" a bit. What can I say? He's a Director! They are an interesting breed. While he does come across as arrogant, I like his confident and straight forward approach. Television is not really his medium it would seem.

I loved that NW is the one who convinced him to do Spooks and that he was so enamored with PF. My suspicions re: PF staying on Spooks for the duration have been confirmed - the man has a family to support. Nothing wrong with that. Glad he can. Even if PF doesn't ever win a BAFTA, this connection can only get him more and better work in the future. I remember NW once saying that PF was her hero, I think he could probably return the sentiment to some degree now! LOL!

Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks];
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
